Guest guest
Hi Everyone My mum is in hospital with a broken hip. She has been suffering from confusion and poor balance for about a year, with the inevitable fall happening at the end of May. On looking at her medical notes I noticed her thyroid blood tests were awry. TSH below range FT4 above range Sorry, don't have the exact figures to hand. Now to me this shows Mum has a thyroid issue. I've asked for FT3 and RT3 bloods, but was told that the doc " wants to deal with her immediate medical issue, and take one thing at a time " . Seeing as her only treatment at the moment is another week of bed rest, I am about to challenge the doc's inaction. But wanted to get your views first as to exactly what I should be requesting, and why. I intend to ask verbally once more then put a complaint in writing. It seems to me that confusion, poor cognitive ability, poor balance, muscle pain etc etc are thyroid issues. Particularly as she's had all the scans and they're all " fine " . Thanks in advance for all help and support, Sue Ps - I'm hypo with adrenal weakness and often wondered if I inherited it from Mum!
