Guest guest
Hi Suzanna, Could be a problem with adrenals, low vits and minerals, amalgams causing mercury poisoning, candida. all these things can cause thyroid replacement not to be utilised properly- so you are intolerant of the meds or they just don't have any effect on the symptoms. Have a good look in our forum files as there are lots of papers on these subjects and questionnaires to help you work out where your problem lies. > thyroid treatment > From: k9magic@...> Date: Fri, 27 May 2011 12:52:53 +0000> Subject: Any recommendations for a good thyroid specialist East anglia/London, please> > Hi All,> I have finally got a referral from my GP to an endo - the appointment will be at Addenbrookes, Cambridge... no idea who it will be with or how long to wait. I have had a lot of trouble with Levothyroxine over the years - never being able to get up to 50mcg without severe symptoms. This has been going on for over 25 years. I would expect I should be on about 125 mcg to bring the tsh down [Last 2 tests were 7.8 and 4.4].I Now have severe fibromyalgia, stomach problems, depression etc [you know the score]. > > I would like to make the most of this opportunity. If anyone knows of a thyroid specialist - [ I have an insurance scheme which would help towards a private consult if necessary.> > Ideas would be really appreciated.> > Thanks in hopefull anticipation. Guest guest
Thanks for that . I spent quite a lot of time on the site back in February when I was really struggling. Had some helpful info from the forum and Sheila. I bought Dr P's book and have done what I can regarding diet etc. I havent done the adrenal saliva test - but had a synthecin test about 10 years ago [negative]. I have tried Nutri Adrenal extra. After a couple of days feel worse.... so stop. Not sure if this is just some sort of coincidence. I have Sheilas list of 'good doctors' - but am no wiser really - about Drs who might be flexible in their treatment programs [ie t3 or natural dessicared]. Guest guest
All of the doctors on my recommended list that I sent you are " flexible " in that they will prescribe and/or recommend synthetic T3/T4 combination therapy, T3 alone and/or natural thyroid extract. I have no recommended doctors that will only use levothyroxine. This is mentioned at the top of the page of the recommended doctors.
