The doctor placed the rods and fused the upper spine (not the lower back). Now she has a 25 degree curve brewing at the bottom. They said it would be a very easy operation to fuse the bottom. She is only 4'11. Unless the great Jerry finds that big cure. I think her height shouldnt affect her. At the time of her surgery she also recieved heel cord releases. She came out of surgery with an incision from neck to the top of her rectum, and two big casts from knee to toes....oh ya she was real comfortable.....Also she had a big problem with the incision healing. she was hospitalized with a fever a week later, because the incision site at the bottom of her back was full of infection. So now she has a pretty thick scar back that compared to her upper back. I also have a question, do anyone have a crease in the back at the side? does and its awful, I have to clean it out and it gets no air, so it smells. The ortho doctor said keep it dry and clean....I work in a hospital so They gave me fungas powder, it helps, but I know for sure it is going to give her problems in the future. I keep an eye on her page and know her password so I can " approve " friends, and have the security settings set high. She loves it.? She is 21.? Her birthday was a few weeks ago, and she pretty much went on all her friends pages and solicited birthday greetings, lol. It seems to allow her connect with some of her friends she doesn't see as often, which I think is great! BTW, now that she is 21, she now tells everyone that she is " old " .?
