Guest guest
Hello Imogen There is little you need to do before seeing Dr Peatfield, though it is a good idea to collect any thyroid function test results or results of any minerals/vitamins that have been done, together with the reference range for each of the tests done and bring them with you. You will need to complete Dr Peatfield's Questionnaire (attached), but if you don't get attachments, go to our web site www.tpa-uk.org.uk and in the right hand column under TPA News, click on Dr Peatfield's Clinic Updates - and on the page that opens, click on Dr Peatfield's Questionnaire and you can print it off from there. You bring the questionnaire with you when you have your appointment. You could (for your own peace of mind) do the three medical questionnaires in our Files section to see whether you might have an adrenal, candida or magnesium problem. If you score high, (and only if you can afford it) then yes, it would be a good idea to get the 24 hour salivary adrenal profile to check your levels of cortisol and DHEA and the other test to see whether you have candida antibodies and bring those results with you, but they are not vital. Don't cut out your thyroxine, you need that to keep going (if, indeed, thyroxine is actually working for you). If Dr Peatfield thinks you should change your thyroid hormone replacement, he will discuss this with you. Don't take your thyroxine on the morning you have blood drawn for any testing your GP will do but you can take it straight afterwards. It is an exciting journey knowing that this could be the first day of your new life and many of us can tell you how well and wonderful we feel. Why the NHS can't see how wrong they are beats me. Good luck Imogen. Luv - Sheila I did manage to fax Dr Peatfield this morning, thanks to my husband at work, so hopefully a reply will be forthcoming sometime. Perhaps you could just help me prepare for a possible appointment: what do I need to equip myself with? I have already requested my medical notes from my GP practice (much to their astonishment). Will it be helpful if I get some tests done in advance? Do you think I should cut out my thyroxine? I have booked an appointment with my GP for 14th June, in case I need to ask for any tests they can do - but that may not leave enough time if I manage to see Dr Peatfield at the end of the month.
