Please see this latest 'news':-

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-13221928

I can't help thinking when I see articles such as this that there is some kind

of medical conspiracy against older people and more specifically against those

of us with hypoT. We all know there is a risk of osteoporosis if overtreated but

many of us have been UNDER treated or NOT treated at all and now this latest

'research' may threaten those of us who have at least managed to get thyroxine,

with being condemned to a miserable old age blighted (unnecessarily) by foggy

thinking, aches and pains and all the other ills associated with lack of

treatment for underactive thyroid if our only treatment (thyroxine) is reduced.

Must be the cynic in me but perhaps they just want us to crawl away and die

quietly. Osteoporosis runs in my family, my grandmother, maternal aunt and my

mother being severely affected; my sister apparently tested positive but has

refused the proffered medication because of its toxicity. I've not been tested

and don't intend to be. I could not get any of the " professionals " I've seen to

consider anything other than thyroxine. It does not bannish all of my symptoms

(carpal tunnel, tinnitus & weight gain being but a few) but at least it does

seem to have given me half my brain back - even if the forgetful half remains!!

If the medical profession were not so blinkered about the alternatives to

thyroxine perhaps I might have regained more of my health and self and they

might not find themselves in the position of having to deny treatment to

patients as they age.

PS The links to related articles under the one posted above are equally scary.

Lovin the sunshine - must be the Vit D making us all feel better!!

Regards all
