Guest guest
Hello everyone, This will probably (hopefully) bring a chuckle to a few of you who are in similar positions......What on earth am I allowed to eat?! I'm trying to devise a diet (haven't even got to what that means in terms of actual palatable dishes yet!) that is supportive of adrenal fatigue, hypothyroidism (assuming Hashimoto's - being confirmed next week), & a high-ish Candida IgA count. Oh, & I haven't eaten meat since I was 15 (now 42) but started eating fish two years ago. Easy peasy eh?! ;o) So, I know I should be eating no gluten, sugar, soya & avoiding certain vegetables & nuts but what can I eat I am wondering! For starchy carbs someone kindly informed me on the forum that wild rice was ok, what about brown rice, ok or not ok? I also know that buckwheat is fine, quinoa, polenta, millet & maize, correct? Anything else? For protein - I think the following are ok....eggs, cheese, fish, yoghurt, miso, sea-vegetables, legumes (i.e. chick peas when eaten with rice & seeds/nuts) - or are legumes out for my candida count? I believe that all veg & salad is ok (apart from a few exclusions such as brussel sprouts). I've been eating Quorn as a frequent part of my protein diet for many years now but realise that if I'm confirmed as having Hashimoto's then that will have to go too. I was thinking of using Tofu as the substitute but have since realised that soya isn't good for adrenal fatigue or hypothyroidism so I presume Tofu is out too? On the sugars front...I know fruit is out....presumably Xylitol (sugar substitute used in cooking etc) is out & carob as of the candida count? Thanks in advance for any ideas received.......I know I need to research this some more but ironically when you have these bits & bobs wrong with you its a real struggle to find the energy to do it! Sound familiar?! ) Think I might end up having to see a diet specialist to make sure I don't starve or live on omelette!
