Have others on the forum experienced such weird stuff as this??? Today I am

especially fatigued and vague after experiencing a rather odd thing earlier

today.

I was driving into the city at 12.30pm and all of a sudden I saw 'two' sets of

green lights at the traffic lights (the 'second' green light appeared where the

amber light should have been so it was obviously some sort of 'ghosting'

phenomonen) & writing appeared to have 'ghosting' around it. I wasn't

hallucinating for those of you who might have been wondering (:

I did a little experiment while it was happening and I shut one eye at a time,

however the double 'ghosting' of the traffic light still appeared, so the vision

in both eyes were obviously affected. As soon as it happened, I immediately

felt very tired & lightheaded & vague (I was tired before, but it got worse

after the 'traffic light experience').

At one point, I could not read a small sign because it was so distorted from the

'ghosting'. Writing appeared to have a halo around it. It was most noticeable

with light coloured writing on a dark background. I experienced the 'ghosting'

effect with writing once before, so I managed to see an optometrist. She saw me

the next day & did a very thorough examination. Turned out at that stage that

my eyes were fine and I had 20/20 vision, but I found out I needed very weak

lenses for reading (1.5 strength prescription) which wasn't any big deal. I had

also been to an eye specialist last year and he said I had perfect eye health.

Back to today.... As far as the traffic lights went, it appeared as though the

green light appeared twice on the same traffic light sign. The green light

appeared slightly less as bright as the 'real' green light. The ghosting

version of the green light appeared on top of the 'real' green light, however

there a space between them (ie. they didn't run into each other - the 'ghosting'

appeared as a separate green dot). It was ghosting to the nth degree! I called

my optometrist as soon as I could pull over my car, and she immediately told me

that she would give me a referral to an excellent neuro-ophthamologist who she

would go and see herself if she needed to. (by the way, this optometrist is a

lovely woman and goes out of her way to help. The first time I experienced

ghosting with writing , she came in to work earlier than she needed to just to

fit me in because she was booked up all day). I then called my neurologist and

he said that the ophthamologist is excellent and very thorough. Trouble is that

the neuro-ophthamologist is booked up until late May. Luckily the strange

'double traffic light' experience finished at about 4.00pm. My neurologist told

me to go and have it checked today by a doc if possible to make sure that my

eyes were working symmetrically. Thankfully they were. I went and saw a gp

(not my usual gp, but I got an emergency appt with a very competent gp in the

same clinic) and they said they had never seen anything like it in their life.

She also told me that my left retina looked 'paler' than my right retina, but

that in itself isn't anything to be concerned about, but I have an appt with my

'regular' gp tomorrow to get my thyroid studies, iron studies, vit D results

back, so I will ask him to re-check then.

Has anyone else here experienced this sort of thing???
