Guest guest
Hi just got my lab results back from my Adrenal Stress Profile from Genova. I'm lookng for help and guidance, many thanks. The results are as follows:- COTISOL Sample (1) 13.6 [12-22] Sample (2) 2.6 [5-9] Low Sample (3) 1.5 [3-7] Low Sample (4) 0.5 [1-3] Low Total Daily Cortisol 18.2 [21-41] Low DHEA Sample (2) (am) 1.18 High Sample (3) (pm) 0.52 DHEA: Cortisol Ratio 4.67 High DHEA Mean 0.85 [0.3-1] ADRENAL STRESS STAGE Adrenal stress stage – non adaptive response. This generally indicates falling levels of both cortisol and DHEA from excessive stimulation/secretion over long periods of time. It can also reflect the effects of exogenous use of DHEA in adrenal exhaustion states after several months of DHEA supplementation. RESULTS POSSIBLY SKEWED These results may be slightly skewed because I awoke at 3am for an hour or so then went to bed and was probably awake until my first reading was taken at 8:30am, I have been waking with upper back pain since having a skating accident a few weeks ago, thankfully this situation is improving. OLD HISTORY When I was first diagnosed with Hypothyroidism I was moved up to 75mcg of thyroxine at which point my lab results came back normal. However from the moment I first started taking thyroxine I become unwell. At 75mcg I was getting lots of Hypo symptoms. With a lot of effort I convinced my GP to increase my thyroxine to 100mcg, I had difficulty getting use to 100mcg with ringing in ears and pressure in head, however by splitting the tablets and taking some at night the ringing improved and the head pressure went away I still had minor ringing in ears. My hypo symptoms got better and better and had good health for a few years until July last year RECENT HISTORY In July 2010 started getting mild double vision, ringing in ears got much louder, was nauseous and dizzy. Dropping my thyroxine down to 75 and now 62.5 has improved things. Have been on 62.5mcg now for about 7weeks. Had endo appointment which was useless, said it had nothing to do with my Hypothyroidism. He though it was a neurological condition. I Visited the neurology Dept, they said it was not a neurological condition and that it was probably due to my thyroid condition! I am now due to get a standard thyroid blood test after being on 62.5mcg for over 6 weeks, I think the test will be a waste of time, my GP will probably try to get me to reduce my thyroxine again. RECENT THYROID LAB RESULTS [100mcg thyroxine] 16/09/10 TSH <0.01, FT4 24, TT3 2.0 [TSH 0.2-4.5, FT4 9-21, TT3?] [75mcg thyroxine] 20/12/10 TSH 0.04, FT4 20 [TSH 0.2-4.5, FT4 9-21] QUESTIONS My TSH has been very suppressed for a number of years since being on 100mcg of thyroxine my T4 was off the scale while my T3 was mid range indicating bad conversion When I was tested again recently after dropping to 75mcg my TSH was still very low. I suspect it will still be low at 62.5 and will be asked to drop my thyroxine even lower. Am I right in thinking that adrenal stress can cause bad conversion of T4 to T3 and which can cause you to become toxic even on small doses of thyroxine. Am I right in thinking this will also cause a suppressed TSH again even at small doses of thyroxine. Could adrenal stress cause the following symptoms Ringing in ears Poor eyesight seems to get worse as day progresses Dizziness but not necessarily when standing Slightly sensitive to light and sound Still have plenty energy Blood pressure does not drop when standing up but is low. I'm not taking any supplements and could not convince my GP to do any vitamins testing Where do I go from here Many thank Stuart
