Guest guest
I just joined, so here is a bit of info on how I got here. I am married to Jay. We have 2 children Dathon (8) and Aubrey (4). When Dathon was born Jay was in the military. So we did what we were supposed to according to the military and did the well baby check and vaccination thing. We never could get over the thing that if we HAVE to do this, why do we need to sign something to give them permission, but at the time we were under the cloud of thinking that the government must know what they are doing. At his 4 mo check up Dathon received his 2nd round of DPT and MMR. 11 days later he a seizure and stopped breathing. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital near the base that we lived at. While there he seized for 4 hours, when they had him stabilized they said they needed to fly him to a different one and where did we want him to go. Being military and in the DC area I said Bethesda, I was told no he couldn't go there because they did not have a heli-pad. I was panicked and not thinking clearly so I chose the closer of the 2 choices I had. Of course it has a heli-pad, the predsident goes there. I still have yet to figure out why they told me it didn't. When Dathon stopped breathing Jay did CPR on him to get him breathing. At the time the only CPR he knew was adult CPR and that was learned as a part of his military training. When we arrived at the second hosp the usual tests were run to rule out meningitis and those types of illnesses. Dathon had fluid on the brain and they did not now why. He went in the hop . on a Sun afternoon . On Wed he had a shunt placed to drain the fluid from his brain to his abdomen. After the surgery he was awake, alert, and relatively happy. In the meantime we had been referred to CPS to be investigated for Shaken Baby. On Thurs we had a meeting with the CPS people. While we there the doctors had taken Dathon for a bone scan to try and confirm their allegations. For the bone scan Dathon had to be sedated. We still don't know what happened at this point. All we do know is that in the elevator either to or from the bone scan Dathon quit breathing twice and suffered brain damage. The cat scans up to this time were fine. After they showed 2 areas of the brain that had died. On the bone scan it showed 2 broken ribs. Not uncommon in CPR. They also dilated his eyes to look for retinal bleeding, common in cases of Shaken Baby. There was no retinal bleeding. After the bone scan my son was in a coma for a month. He went home to foster parents. As soon as he was out of the hospital we went digging to find out what happened . In our research we found out that Dathon was born hydrocephalic and it was missed. His head grew 8 cm in 2 months. It should have been growing at a rate of 1.25 cm a month. I had been telling the nurse practioner at his well baby check ups symptoms of hydrocephalus (absence seizures and high pitch crying) and she was blowing me off as a first time mother. We received custody back of Dathon just before his 1 year birthday. Since then we have pieced together the whole story. Since he was hydrocephalic he was not to receive the DPT but according to them the DT. I reported myself to NVIC as a vaccine injury when he was 18 months old. He was case #11 for his lot number on the DPT. A year later I received an update on his lot number and there were 44 cases total. We stopped all vaccinations on my son when he was 18 months old. Aubrey has never had a vaccine. We have encountered doctors, friends, and family who think we have lost our minds to buck the system like this. But I know I am making the right choice for me and my children. Dathon is now an 8 year old who has the diagnosis of Hydrocephalus,Developmentally Delayed, Epilepsy, and Cerebal Palsy. He is a very happy little boy who is one of the great joys in my life. We have pursued a lawsuit and still are, but it is very hard to fight something like this when there are so many out there who say vaccines are not dangerous and it easier to blame the parents. We moved away from the DC area when Dathon was 18 months old and Jay got out of the military. We were in Dallas for 4 years and in Kansas City for 18 months. We pursued the lawsuit in those areas and were told that it would also be hard because of the distance to the DC area. We now live back in the DC area and I am getting ready to try and find an attorney to take the case. I joined the group because I have learned alot along the way and would love to share it as well as knowing I still have so much more to learn. Thankyou for letting me share our story.
