Hi Sheri: I had to share this pathetic response from the CDC regarding my daughter. Bonita TaTa4U6828@... Bonnie's letter to CDC Autism gp Date: Mon, 29 Jan 2001 14:27:26 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Internet Mail Service (5.5.2653.19) Content-Type: text/plain; charset= " iso-8859-1 " With the " old " version of DTP, persistent inconsolable crying of 3 hours or more occurred in about 1% of doses. We no longer use that vaccine because of just this type of reaction, and fever. We don't know exactly how often this occurs with the " new " version (DTaP), but information from the clinical trials conducted in Europe in the 1990s (9 large trials, each with several thousand participants) indicated that it is from 1 to 8 times per 1000 doses, much less often than with old DTP. The cause of these reactions is not known with certainty, but is believed by pertussis vaccine experts to result from pain. As I mentioned before, many of these children have been followed for several years, and developmental or other abnormalities are no more common than in children that did not have such a reaction.
