Guest guest
No, a doctor is not required to visit. When we had my homebirth in HI (3rd child), all we did was go to the vital records office and register her birth. Her grandmother was listed as the attending party. I don't remember it being any harder than walking in, giving her name and birth info, and walking out. A few months before I had her, I caught a friend's baby at her home. She went to the hospital afterward to have the baby checked and I think they did her birth certificate for her. Do some research on the website for your state. It shoud have a vital records section (birth and death records) it will have information for you. I assume someone would be needed to make a birth certificate and some kind of paperwork would be required... But how would I go about finding this info out? Wouldn't a doctor of some sort be required or at least a visit or something?
