Re: Lori long time no update, now Lugol's on skin

Hi ,

Do you mix iodine into the oil before putting it on the skin? If so,

what proportions, and do they mix easily? Can I store a mixture in a

closed jar, or would I need to mix it each time? I have a thyroid

nodule so I'm thinking of using it on the skin over my thyroid.

Thanks,

Melody

Yes, that's the idea, to mix it into the oil before putting it on the skin.

Yes, you can

make up a quantity in advance, but you'll want to experiment first to find the

ideal

oil/iodine ratio. Yes, they generally mix easily, afaik (not having used all

oils).

The proportion to use is personal. It will have to do with how fast your skin

absorbs

the oil and which oil you are using. That's why you need to experiment.

apply with fingers-- a brush would absorb oil/iodine and waste it, and then you

don't

know of the brush is absorbing more iodine than oil, messing up the amount you

think you're dosing. By hand, and then rub the remainder into your hands. It's

all

good! :)

With the straight Lugol's I just use the side of the dropper to paint it on. Almost anything else would absorb some and/or stain.

If mixing with oil I would still look for something non-absorptive to spread it on -perhaps the back of a plastic spoon?

If you get it on your hands and you need to remove the color, just take a bit of

Vitamin C powder (or crush a tablet and use some) and it converts the brown

iodiNe into clear iodiDe. Voila! No more stain. Don't do that in general, over

the

painted areas, because you want both types of iodine to penetrate, but it works

well

if you need to clean up your hands.

I would only recommend using the dropper to paint it on if that bottle of

Lugol's is

only used for painting. Otherwise you are picking up skin oils and dirt that

would

render the Lugol's in the bottle contaminated for internal use.
