Guest guest
My quick story: age 39, hair loss, weight gain, low temps, constantly tired. I've had these symptoms most of my life, but they got worse after the birth of my son 6 years ago. I started Lugol's 2% in November, could only do 2 drops 2x a day. I tried to up the drops and times per day, but ended up with horrendous headaches each time (lasted for nearly two days). About two weeks ago, I started applying Lugol's to my breasts (fibrocystic) and scalp. Shortly after, all my symptoms got much worse, and I've gained 8 pounds in these two weeks (all in my upper body and breasts). So, I started salt loading on Saturday. After doing it 4x that day, I ended up with a horrendous headache, general malaise, and acne on my neck (?). I haven't taken any Lugol's since Saturday morning. The headache is so bad that I can barely function. I only did the salt load once yesterday and I haven't done it today. My question is: should I continue to salt load? I've searched the Q and A and done a search through the previous topics, but I can't determine what I should do next. The only thing that's making me feel better is coffee and sugar! Thank you in advance. This group is amazing!
Guest guest
UPDATE: I went ahead yesterday and did 2 salt loadings followed each time by large doses of vitamin c. I ended up with an even worse headache, my eyes felt like they were pounding, my breasts are extremely swollen, my body itches, and I had extremely odd dreams. I've been taking high doses of ibuprofen just to get some relief (I am self-employed and have a family, so I have to function). But after nearly two days, I'm still miserable and the ibuprofen is not touching the headache. So, I'm obviously not going to do the salt loading again. I haven't been able to keep up with the selenium or vitamin c, because all I want right now is to feel better. Any suggestions on how to feel better quickly and what to do going forward? > > My quick story: age 39, hair loss, weight gain, low temps, constantly tired. Guest guest
Sounds like you're bypassing your body's ability to detox. Have you done any type of detoxing prior to starting iodine? Guest guest
Yes, I did a liver cleanse a few months ago, and the detox was not nearly this intense. I had no idea that starting iodine nearly two months would produce this kind of reaction now. The pain of the headache is getting unbearable. I am an exercise instructor in addition to being self-employed, so I've had to cancel two days worth of classes. If I could get rid of the headache, I could manage. > > > > > > My quick story: age 39, hair loss, weight gain, low temps, constantly tired. Guest guest
Unrefined salt is to be taken every day, not just sometimes. The term " salt loading " refers to a separate, additional amount of salt. But there is a baseline amount (1/2 teaspoon per day) that is taken every day no matter what, as part of the protocol. And even if you're not taking iodine, you should take the salt. The salt helps your body get rid of detox materials. If you are having this much trouble, you need to work on your detox pathways to increase your body's ability to get rid of unwanted, unneeded detox materials (bromides that the iodine is essentially kicking off the cell receptors). -- moderator On 10 Jan 2012 at 14:35, smileawhile74 wrote: > UPDATE: I went ahead yesterday and did 2 salt loadings followed each > time by large doses of vitamin c. Guest guest
I wasn't doing the salt prior to my first salt loading on Saturday. I was only doing selenium, mag, zinc, and apple cider vinegar. Once I can get through this headache, I'm going to take a break from everything for a bit. I did a liver cleanse a few months ago, but the detox symptoms weren't nearly this intense; I think I need to revisit that before going back to iodine. Many thanks for the advice. > > My quick story: age 39, hair loss, weight gain, low temps, > > constantly tired. Guest guest
Linn,I remember my first go around with Iodoral, it was bad after the first week when the headaches started. They are frontal, but seem to move to the top of your head, too-making it feel worse. Mine hurt so bad, my eyes watered constantly-I could get nothing to help cut the pain-Tylenol or Advil. The good thing is they go away in a day or two without taking the Iodine. Sorry to hear you are going through this. I hope you feel better soon.TamaraOn Tue, Jan 10, 2012 at 3:05 PM, Linn <mwm1glm@...> wrote: Â Anything else as far as detoxing? How about mercury fillings? Adrenal issues? Guest guest
If all you've done is one liver cleanse, it would be prudent to add in some kind of daily liver support too. Livatone Plus by Dr. Cabot is an excellent product and she has a lot of good article on her website, www.liverdoctor.com. Start with one pill per day for and up every few days until you're up to 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. One of the things that I've seen over the years is that this type of headache is caused in those who still have mercury fillings. If that is the case, you'll need to take detox slower than someone without fillings. Adding in pain killers like Advil, Tylenol, etc. are just going to burden the liver further and may even make the headache worse. You could also try adding some herbal teas that help with kidney and liver. Dr. Schulze makes some excellent products, www.herbdoc.com. Hydration can help with the headache also, fluoride free water, with 1 lemon and 1 lime juiced in it is good. You can add the salt into this mixture also. Metagenics Ultra Clear PH will help with both liver and kidney issues, a tad expensive but well worth IMO. You also could try taking more magnesium for the headache. I would check into adrenal testing, if the caffeine and sugar are making you feel better, sounds like you're taxing the adrenals as well. Have you had your thyroid tested lately? Some of the issues you state could be either detoxing issues or thyroid. Linn Moderator > > My quick story: age 39, hair loss, weight gain, low temps, > > > constantly tired. Guest guest
You need to salt load to get rid of your headache. Any time I have a head ache or pains I drink my salt water and then copious amounts of drinking water until I start peeing every 15 minutes. That helps flush out toxins.
