I second the motion to homeschool. But this coming from a

homeschooling mother, might sound a bit biased. If you don't want to

do this for the longrun, the school should offer a homebound option.

They might be unwilling at first though. Just stand your ground. Also

let other parents that you know about the dangers of this lunacy!

can you share with them all info that shows the danger so they may

not follow through on this.

I would not allow myself or my child to be anywhere in the vicinity

for as long as it takes (and who knows how long for sure)

What kind of a school is this, private or public--and where? If it's private, I

would tell them you expect to be reimbursed for the time off if she takes it and

you'll rethink sending your daughter next year if they can't guarantee a safe

environment.

But, and I know it's a special concern because you're pregnant, there are

probably people all over who have been vaxed with it--at stores, churches,

movies. etc. I would worry more about being exposed while they were giving it

because it would be in the air, rather than worry about the time afterwards.

Maybe you should tell the principal that this is putting pregnant teachers (or

teachers who don't know they're pregnant) at risk, along with parents/visitors

who come to the school who might be pregnant (or immunocompromised)--and the

school could be sued. They hate that.

Better yet, I would go to the superintendent myself, rather than expecting the

prinicipal to inform him/her, let alone do it with the same level of knowledge

you have. At best, she might say " a parent complained, but I don't think it's a

problem. How should I handle her? "

I'm sorry you have to deal with this when you're pregnant. Things like this

cause such stress when you least need it.

It's wonderful you are so on top of the situation for you, your

daughter and unborn baby. People all around us have probably had a

FluMist and we are unknowingly exposed, but this is clearly a high

dose and being administered right there adds so much more.

Personally I think missing time like that in elementary school is not

that critical, you can keep up well enough, get work in advance, and

she can learn some more neat things with quality time with mom :D

It is a public school in PA. I did think about the people walking

around at the food store or wherever that were just given it but the

chances of me getting it from them is a lot less than if 40, 50, or

more kids are given it in her little school where she has close

contact 5 days a week with.

I did some research last night and it is actually 3 weeks shedding

period!! They sent home a Q & A paper but it says nothing about

shedding, just who should and shouldn't get the vaccine. I always

thought I might have an issue regarding my choice to not vaccinate but

I always thought it would be trouble getting them into school, not

something ridiculous and unneeded like this!!

Why are public schools giving this out there? They're not doing it in CT (that I

know of--I guess I'd better ask!)

Terry,

It's very nice of you to help your friend. If you go to Lee Ann's website, www.vitamixlady.com, there is a link on the left hand side of the homepage. I use a frozen triple berry blend I get at Sam's Club in my smoothies. It is blueberry, blackberry and raspberry and hides greens very nicely. For a sweeter taste you can add dates.

Check Lea Ann's Web site. Kale might be hard to disguise, though. Have

you thought about romaine or spinach? They're a lot more neutral in

flavor.

Great, that's just what I needed to know. I wasn't sure what you'd need to make it taste like he was just eating fruit. I'd like him to try my gazpacho smoothie so I might send a container of that home with her too. If he won't eat it I know she will. She's my best friend and her husband has dementia. He's 84 now but it started years ago. She can no longer leave him alone. He goes to an adult care center twice a week to give her some time to get out of the house and to have some life of her own. My husband is 82 but he's sharp as a tack. Ilm really lucky. I still seem to have it all too. Well, my memory can fail me. You know, walk into a room and why you went there. LOL but vie done that for years too.Sent from my iPadOn Oct 2, 2010, at 4:56 PM, fradal@... wrote:

The Green Smoothie on my website can be made with Kale - if sweetened with dates it is especially sweet...

Chiming in...

Too much zucchini in my garden this summer means most of it went into smoothies. It was absolutely undetectable. I bet this works with the yellow squash too, hope this helps a little.

If he has dementia, add some coconut oil. The jury is still out on it, but there is some evidence that it slows down Alzheimer's. I add it to my green smoothies and to my oatmeal.

No Alzheimers in evidence. They did some kind of tests and I think some of it is

related to Parkinsons which he has. BUT, hey I can do coconut oil. My

housekeeper is Brazilian and she introduced me to Palm oil which I assume is

the same. Very high in cholesterol but we do not have that problem. I think most

of the tropical oils have that component.

I'm disappointed for I assumed that Green For Life was going to be full of

recipes. Nope. BUT I'm reading it anyway. I'm not sure I buy into the presented

science however.

I just ordered a ton of fruit and veg which will be delivered tomorrow in

expectation of my friend's visit on Wednesday. We'll have fun even if her

husband doesn't drink our creations.

LOL but vie done that for years too.

No. No animal. I should have said high saturated fat which I associate with

cholesterol. I misspoke.

Palm oil, coconut oil and palm kernel oil are edible plant oilsderived from the

fruits of palm trees. Palm oil is extracted from the pulp[1] of the fruit of the

oil palm Elaeis guineensis; palm kernel oil is derived from the kernel (seed) of

the oil palm[2] and coconut oil is derived from the kernel of the coconut (Cocos

nucifera). Palm oil is naturally reddish in color because it contains a high

amount of beta-carotene.

Palm oil, palm kernel oil and coconut oil are three of the few highly saturated

vegetable fats. Palm oil is semi-solid atroom temperatures. Palm oil contains

several saturated andunsaturated fats in the forms of glyceryl laurate (0.1%,

saturated), myristate (1%, saturated), palmitate (44%, saturated), stearate (5%,

saturated), oleate (39%,monounsaturated), linoleate (10%, polyunsaturated),

andlinolenate (0.3%, polyunsaturated).[3] Palm kernel oil and coconut oil are

more highly saturated than palm oil. Like allvegetable oils, palm oil does not

contain cholesterol (found in unrefined animal fats),[4][5] although saturated

fat intake increases both LDL[6] and HDL[7] cholesterol.

Palm oil is a common cooking ingredient in the tropical belt of Africa,

Southeast Asia and parts of Brazil. Its increasing use in the commercial food

industry in other parts of the world is buoyed by its lower cost[8] and the high

oxidative stability (saturation) of the refined product when used for

frying.[9][10]

the tropical oils have that component.

There are many types of dementia that have nothing to do with Alzheimer's--they're not synonymous. Also, although there's evidence that plants contains trace amounts of cholesterol, that's not the problem with highly saturated plant fats like palm and coconut. What typically happens is that such fats--despite not containing any cholesterol--raise human cholesterol levels, which is why we're supposed to limit our intake of them. I don't know...I personally enjoy a slug of saturated fat now and then (I LOVE good cheese).

Ditto . No one in my family has cholesterol issues and we are not concerned

with dietary cholesterol, say like shrimp. We don't eat a lot of saturated fat

but probably more than most families. We adore a good cheese. I make whole fat

ice cream. We only use butter and I deep fry on occasion. I have yet to use the

palm oil I bought to try. It's a deep orange color and I understand has a very

distinctive flavor.

It is used throughout Brazil but is especially associated with Bahia.
