Guest guest
Hi SAJ, I wish you hadn't waited so long for the iodine but better late than never, and I'm certainly glad she'll start now. I'll add comments below, I'm sure others will have other things to say or different points to address: > Hello Folks, > > I've been monitoring this site for about a year now and my wife > (diagnosed papillary thyroid cancer last year in Dec 2010) with no > surgery or RAI yet and do not plan on one, hopefully ... Folks with cancer are advised to start fairly high and increase the dose as quickly as possible. Generally the factors influencing how much to start with and how fast to increase are detox symptoms. If you're not too uncomfortable, you can increase faster/higher. I would suggest that she start at 25mg and increase every couple of days with another drop or two or four of Lugol's. Iodoral is convenient but Lugol's is nice to titer the dose with because you can move in smaller increments. So I'd suggest using both, but either is fine. 2. Then in addition, if the detox symptoms are bad, you can do additional salt and water to stimulate urination, thus washing the detox byproducts out of the body and ending the symptoms. That process is called " salt loading " , but it is completely separate from the daily salt requirement. Is there a document on > detox symptoms ? Yes. Read the " Supplementing with Iodine " document that you have been sent and that is on the website and on Steph's personal website. This is not just for symptomatic relief of fatigue. It is for very deep support. It should be taken on a regular basis. There is only one brand of " ATP Cofactors " , which is a formula that contains the two B vites recommended in the strength recommended. I will send my post to the list that outlines suggestions for the companion nutrients that are efficacious and inexpensive. It gives the online source I use, but you can compare my list to your own favorite sources. > > 3. Will continue with taking 10,000 IU of Vit D3 - Bio-D-Mulsion Forte > 4. Be sure to follow the suggestions about using an oil carrier to protect the skin from the oxidizing effect of the liquid iodine-- long term use can result in skin irritation/dermatitis that can be avoided by using an oil carrier. 7.
