Guest guest
Wanted to respond to the above subject as I've inadvertantly come upon something that works very well for me. Some time ago I was fighting sinus infections on a pretty regular basis and someone suggested using a blend of lavender and rosemary in my bath (about 1/2 and 1/2). Well, I love my lavender rosemary soap so went ahead and gave it a try. At the same time I had just begun spraying a lavender linen spray on my sheets and pillows when I made my bed. After a couple weeks of regular use of these eo's (every night in my bath and every morning on my bed linens). I realized I was sleeping like a log - no dreams - no restlesness - nothing! I get in bed and fall asleep very quickly (unusual for me) and sleep through the night like I've been knocked out. BTW, I have not had a sinus infection for well over a year! Believe me that is an accomplishment as I was always battling with my sinus' every time the weather changed - and it changes alot here in North Carolina. Actually I believe Butch is the one who gave me the advice about the lavender and rosemary blend. Actually could've used his rosemary oil each morning to sniff when I got up (that was also one of his suggestions) but kept forgetting - I love to take a bath at night so I knew I wouldn't forget to use the blend if I put it with my bath things. Hope this is a help to someone.
Guest guest
Usually I drink tea as well or take some Valarian root. Sometimes my insomnia comes from just being overly worried about life. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Lee Try doing crossword puzzles - they wash the mind clear of anything but the puzzle and allow you to drift off to sleep - it works for my wife every time - hope it works for you. LOL > What are everyone's tricks for beating insomnia? It is irritating not to be able to sleep, when you are exhausted. I usually try to distract myself with an audio book. I also drink hot tea. Guest guest
I have tried everything to help me sleep, there were times when I would be up for 36 hours straight and now I take trazadone every night to help me sleep. It knocks me out for the whole night sometimes. << What are everyone's tricks for beating insomnia? It is irritating not to be able to sleep, when you are exhausted. Guest guest
Lee I missed your original post. But I know how bad it can be to go without sleep. It about killed me at the beginning of 2000. I personally still take the temazepam about 15mg per night. But Docs have suggested trying the valerian root or melatonin. Also there is a new thing called alluna that is over the counter and on sale at Walgreens(just saw the ad) Also I try to avoid anything that has chocolate or caffeine that may make me stay awake. Another thing I did was listen to headphones with positive messages like tapes by Carolyn Myss or Bernie Siegel Take Care Colleen
Guest guest
I wish something would work for the insomnia! I usually go to bed anywhere between midnight and 2 AM and still lay there for hours trying to get to sleep. I can be tired when I go to bed but it's like as soon as my head hits the pillow, wide awake. Then I usually am up early too. I'm afraid to use any drugs or earplugs as we have a two year old so need to hear him if he needs me. Any suggestions? I have tried melatonin and that didn't work. ===== searching for Deborah dob 1/14/57 in nna, Fl Relinquished in Chicago, 1961 brother and 5 other siblings searching Half-sib found 1-16-00! __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi Terri, I've got no suggestions other then medications to help your insomnia. Perhaps aromatherapy? Or reflexology? Or another alternative therapy might have an answer? How've you been? Love Aisha

Guest guest
It is alot, but between the rheumatoid arthritis, carpel tunnel, and other things he needs to take them. One, two, or combination of even three do not work. RE: insomnia > Hi, > Why is he taking all of those meds. Most or all are for pain, anxiety, sleep. Maybe he should be taking only one? Guest guest
Sharon--I take most of the meds your dad does and more (minus the quinine). Most supplements are safe, but please consult a health food store owner who is very educated, and not just a business person, it can make all the difference. I find that the scent of lavender eo in my room doesn't hurt either.--Colleen Happy Trails....
Guest guest
I concur with the others. If he's on two similar meds I would consult another doctor. My mother was in the same boat and has buldging disc and needed to be changed. She has developed a resistence to alot of med. It could be he needs an adjustment to the mg. Sorry I don't really know alot about this, just personal experience. Guest guest
Oxycontin is extremely addicting. It is generally only used for extreme severe pain or patients with terminal illnesses. Such as a non-treatable cancer. One of the reasons for the lawsuit is related to it's high addictability and someone with just a drug addiction will often steal or forge for this drug. Guest guest
Sha, I am another person that has a diagnosed sleep disorder. I do have to take some medication before I go to bed but along with that I have found great help with doing Tai Chi. For a person who cannot do any kind of real physical things like running, bouncing, that sort of thing, this has been the answer for me. It looks like it's real easy and how can there be much benefit, but believe me it is harder than it looks but not hard on your joints etc. This is an exercise almost anyone can do, they even have a class here for persons in wheel-chairs and people that have other disabilities. Do check with the Dr. first tho'. Another thing I have found helpful is, I put a small sponge in a sm. jar and filled it up with lavender EO. When I go to bed I take the lid off so as to get the fragrance all night. These things have helped me a lot. Good luck to him. Sandy
Guest guest
Dear Theo, Would you like to do some late night chatting. Slep I have forgotten the meaning of the word. I can't remember the last time I had a full nights sleep. I am tired of sleepiness nights and lack of sleep days. I am not a napper and sleeping pills don't seem to work for me. The doctor first put me on Ambien and suggested I start with a half of a pill but make sure I had 8 or 9 hours to sleep it off. It works for about three hours of uninterrupted sleep then its seems I am awake every hour on the hour. They gave me Trazadone and said it was better, it worked wonderful I slept for a solid 24 hours and still had trouble waking up. Please don't laugh! I felt like a had a hang over for days. So now we have tried taking half of a Trazadone it knocks me out for over 14 hours and I still feel drugged waking up. I have come up with my own little method that works for me. I got a sound machine or relax machine and I try to go to bed same time every night. I turn on the ocean waves or tide sound and then set back with a cross word puzzle book. I take three Tylenol and work a couple of puzzles or read a book or magazine or some times both in about 30 to 40 minutes lay down an generally with in 10 mims fall asleep and sleep to exact 4:22Am then wake up and I am up and down every hour until I get up at 7:30 A.M. Sometimes I get on the computer and play solitaire until I can't see straight. Sometimes I just toss and turn Sleepless in Ohio Sharon
