Guest guest
Hi again Sandy, Say, where do you live? Like I said, I always keep a bottle of Okoubaka here at home - if you're not too far away I wouldn't mind giving it to you. I hate to see anyone suffer! diarrhea Hey Gang: I looked through the archives and couldn't find any info about diarrhea. My whole family has it, and we are all starting to get very weak, as we are now going on day 6! Any advice- what do we eat/drink? what do we want to avoid? Is Immodium AD a big no-no? I would really appreciate anything you've got. thanks- sandy ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing. Guest guest
For the last year, I up my probiotics as soon as I start to feel the abdominal pains. The diarreha is then gone after the first bought or even before. I am getting to know my body enough now that I will up the probiotics after too much sugar intake(I've become very sensitive to sugar since trying to eliminate it from my diet). This is usually the only time I get diarrhea - which is a miracle since I used to have IBS and couldn't get too far from a bathroom after eating - especially going out to eat. Guest guest
Another option is to eat the BRAT diet for awhile along with what others mentioned. That would be Bananas, Rice, Apples, Toast. And the Apples are Apples, not applesauce. Don't overdo this diet, or you'll end up on the other spectrum. Guest guest
High potency probiotics, one dose every hour until the symptoms go away, was what I was told. supposed to be great for travelers diarrhea too. 6 days i way too long to go without relief. if the probiotics don't work in a few hours I would take pepto bismol or something similar at the lowest dose. sometimes modern medicine isn't the enemy. > > Hey Gang: > > I looked through the archives and couldn't find any info about > diarrhea. > My whole family has it, and we are all starting to get very weak, as > we are now going on day 6! Any fiber in her diet? >>> " jboyleluf " <jboyleluf@...> 12/18/2007 7:03 pm >>> Could any of you give me your input on a patient that had gastric bypass about 8 months ago and continues to have diarrhea. I advised her to try a new protein supplement. She came to me for a follow up visit and revealed to me that all she was consuming was her protein supplement and NOTHING else. I also advised her to begin eating all food groups. Any other suggestions. Thanks in advance. Guest guest
So many of us with HIV have suffered from this for years. One thing that I do every night is take Metamusil to add "substance" to the stool. Then every day, after using the bathroom a few times, I take two Loperimide capsules along with two Codeine Sulfate Tablets 30 mgs. This binds me up pretty well until the next day. Sometimes when it's really bad diarrhea though, I understand it's really hard to control. Believe me, I waken up like that too...it's really gross and humiliating. I know that when I was on certain meds it was really bad. One thing that really set me off was a double dose of Norvir. I've been on all the meds you can think of since the early 90's, and know where every bathroom lower Fairfield County Ct, is located, and how many toilets they have! I hope that you find some help with the problem! We always used to laugh in support group at the ads in POZ magazine that showed the guys mountain climbing and stuff. I'd always say..."Where's the porta potty?" Sometimes you just have to laugh to get through the tough times, until they can fix it for u. Diarrhea Colonoscopy anyone? Posted by: "lsmyle" lsmylecomcast (DOT) net larrysmyle Date: Sat Jan 16, 2010 11:30 am ((PST)) guys, For months I have been troubled with intermittent diarrhea. It gets so bad that I have euphemistically named "accidents", sometimes at work, sometimes while asleep. (Try waking up to that sometime, it aint pretty.) Anyway, I asked my doc to maybe check with the GI people. I have pretty much ruled out food allergies, since I can eat the same thing 2 days running. One day fine, the next not. My meds are Issentress, viread, and epivir, not known to cause diarrhea. The GI people want to do a "full upper endoscopy, with small bowel biopsies and a full colonoscopy." I checked and I will be sedated, but it is still freaking me out. Has anyone out there had this done? Any feedback would be appreciated. Larry I've know it well, and I learned that you can, NEVER, EVER, trust a fart!!!! It isn't funny. I can tell you that some of us have had diarrhea for nearly twenty years without being able to resolve that issue. The first place to start is with a colonoscopy, but, don't be surprised if the doctor simply tells you that it most possibly is the HIV that is causing the diarrhea. At that point, you just have to find a drug that will control it. For years, morphine, and black underwear, was the only solution to my situation. Things can change. Only rarely do I get diarrhea anymore. It's all unexplained. Koby
Guest guest
If I start getting diarrhea does it mean I need to take less iodine . I am up to 10 drops in less then 3 weeks. I am hoping to get my energy back. My immune system is awful. Any suggestions are welcome . Rae
Guest guest
Maybe - sometimes you get diarrhea and it is unrelated. I always try to not borrow trouble from tomorrow. If I have to deal with a negative issue then I do it at the time and don't worry about what might happen. Diarrhea If I start getting diarrhea does it mean I need to take less iodine . Guest guest
so far it's not bad. Better then going once every 3 weeks like I used to before Miralax. I am doing the supplements and the salt daily . if it started getting excessive where I would have to take Imodium then yes I would maybe take less drops. As it is i am off 3 meds . I praise God daily for bringing this web site to me. Be sure you are taking the companion nutrients . If you start to get this and other detox symptoms, you can do the Salt Loading Protocol. Both the companion supplements and the procedure for salt loading are in our Guide to Supplementing with Iodine in our Files. You can try taking iodine 5 days a week and be off of it 2 days a week. You will just have to experiment and see what works best for you. Best, -Kathleen moderator Diarrhea If I start getting diarrhea does it mean I need to take less iodine . Guest guest
That is wonderful that you are off 3 meds! PTL! I would check into pulse dosing before going off of it totally. I had to do that on my journey. It is explained in the supplementing with iodine document. Sounds like you are on your way to healing! Guest guest
I love your spunk! I love defying the odds. One of these days (probably when I finish my book) I am going to contact my old endo who told me I would be dead if I took Armour thyroid and didn't do the external beam radiation. That was January 16th, 2006. Have you watched the movie Raw for 30 Days ? It really impacted me. I know that food is important but these people's stories of healing from severe diabetes was amazing! Guest guest
Also, if you start having too strong of detox symptoms, back off on your dose and let that dose sit for a while and let your body get used to at that level. -- On 8 Jan 2012 at 16:41, Rae Dube wrote: > > > > so far it's not bad. Guest guest
Yes I had tried the smoothies with raw veggie with beets, apple, greens and made sure to not use any of the discarded fiber but got real sick anyways . I have a vita mix but that doesn,t rid me of the fiber so that would not work. I could try a little 4 oz glass every few days but trying to avoid getting that cement like constipation again, so will have to go vwryyyyy slow. Guest guest
A Vitamix isn't going to remove the fiber, you would need a dedicated juicer to remove all the fiber. You'd want juice not a smoothie. Linn > > > > > > > On eating raw - I cannot digest leafy greens normally, but can in green smoothies. Guest guest
I had used a juicer that extracted the fiberous leftovers and it just still was too much . I even strained it to make sure it got it all and still got real sick but this was when I was new to GP not sure what would happen now Rae Sent from my iPodOn Jan 10, 2012, at 9:24 AM, Kari <kari0761@...> wrote: A person with gastroparesis can't cope well with fiber even in a smoothie. Guest guest
Hi Rae, I started with a 'normal' speed food processor, but there were still chunks of greens in it - one mouthful and the rest went to my worm farm! I did buy a blender that operates a much higher speeds which seems to have fixed that problem. The blender used by the Boutenko family (which I could not afford) is capable of turning wheat grass into a liquid which I thought would mean would absolutely demolish any hard fibre? Personally, I cannot imagine why anyone would want to drink wheat grass juice! Diarrhea If I start getting diarrhea does it mean I need to take less iodine . I am up to 10 drops in less then 3 weeks. Guest guest
There is a problem with juicing at high speeds and that is oxidation. Mastication type juicers are supposed to be better at getting the juice out without destroying the enzymes. There are other types that are good too. Anyway, there are trade-offs. Wheat grass is reputed to be very healthful. Barley grass too. You can get the freeze dried versions in powdered form for convenience. Not too expensive. Guest guest
Centrifugal juicers do produce more oxidation but are much more economical and easier to use and clean. The enzyme issue is supposedly due to the heat factor but to kill enzymes requires around 120 degrees F. Centrifugal juicers don't generally don't raise the temperature that high. Plus most folks are juicing items that have been refrigerated, so this theory just doesn't hold weight from what I've read. The drawback to centrifugal juicers is that you should only juice what you will use at that time, IOW you shouldn't juice enough to last for several days because of the oxidation. With a Norwalk, the oxidation issue is mute and you can juice several days worth at once, but Norwalks are very expensive and many folks just can't afford the price tag. It's also very easy to add Lugol's to juices, covers the taste well. Linn > > > > > > > > > > > > On eating raw - I cannot digest leafy greens normally, but can in green smoothies.
