Guest guest
Hello again, I can’t tell if the post I originally gave is being reposted or not on this email since it is a blank page, so I am copying it onto this one. I am hoping one of the moderators will kindly explain what these results indicate. My TSH last year was 4.9. I am considered subclinical and am trying to take the supplements needed about 2 weeks before I actually start with the Iodoral. I am using the celtic sea salt, the magnesium, going to take 2000 mg of the vit c and I purchased the B2 & B3 (atp cofactor) which I am soon to add. I do not understand how to interpret the free T3 & free T4. Thank you for your input. Sincerely, Betty Hello I finally got my first free T3 & T4 results. What do you think? Triiodothyronine, Free Serum 3.0 (2.0-4.4)T4, Free 1.05 (0.82-1.77) Back to top
Guest guest
Hi Betty, You didn’t mention Selenium on your list of supplements; it is part of the Iodine Protocol so please make sure you are taking that as well( 200 mcg.daily). As for your recent thyroid tests: Most people feel best with their FreeT3 in the upper third of the range, and the FreeT4 mid or upper range. Your FreeT3 is on the low side. Are you taking Natural Thyroid Hormone? How are you feeling? Do you have hypo symptoms such as cold hands, etc? If you do, you might want to consider NTH. Good to hear you will be starting iodine soon. Kind regards, -kathleen moderator 1st time freeT3 & T4 Hello again, I can’t tell if the post I originally gave is being reposted or not on this email since it is a blank page, so I am copying it onto this one. Guest guest
I am guessing that you don't feel well and that is why you asked about your numbers. Your Free T3 looks low. Most feel best in the upper 1/3 of the range so that would be a value of 3.6 or higher. I feel best in the 4.3's so you can use that as a reference to where you are now. Your Free T4 is also low. Again most feel best when this number is mid-range around 1.4. Guest guest
Thank you Kathleen for your reply. I have the selenium and will start using it with the iodoral. My mother is on synthroid and I hope to avoid med by taking iodine. I think I have someone that can prescribe NTH if I need it. I have hair loss, anxiety, low temps etc. Thank you again. I really like this group. Sincerely, Betty
Guest guest
You are welcome Betty. Please don’t be afraid of taking NTH if you need it. Our goal is to be as healthy as we can be; I take NTH and I always say...God Bless the Pigs! Kathleen moderator Re: 1st time freeT3 & T4 Thank you Kathleen for your reply. Guest guest
Low iron can cause hair loss. And some experience a drop in iron when taking iodine. I would get that checked and supplement if needed. You want to test serum iron, ferritin, % saturation, and TIBC. in NS, Canada At 09:59 PM 21/01/12, you wrote: >Thank you Kathleen for your reply. Guest guest
Thank you ,I am trying to get my thyroid well so I do not have to go on meds. Doctors do not address treating a hypothyroid unless it is really bad. My nurse practitioner told me that the TSH of 4.9 is subclinical and left it at that. I have high hopes for the Iodoral. Thank you for getting back with me.Sincerely,Betty
Guest guest
Please go to www.drbrownstein.com and look at his comments on his latest blog entry on the term "subclinical hypothyroidism". It's bogus. Buist, ND HC Re: 1st time freeT3 & T4 Thank you , I am trying to get my thyroid well so I do not have to go on meds. Doctors do not address treating a hypothyroid unless it is really bad.
