Guest guest
Thanks - this explains it for me From: Baker <vbaker@...>iodine Sent: Thursday, 5 January 2012, 0:53Subject: Re: Lori long time no update Reminder: Please change the subject line if the subject changes or if you're bumping the subject. It may not get noticed otherwise.----------------------------------------------------------It's not actually that Lugol's dries out the skin, and it's not an allergic reaction as someone else responded. The reason Lugol's can cause a skin rash (dermatitis) is because iodine is oxidizing and it irritates the skin. Not drying out, not allergy. The way to avoid this is to use an oil carrier. People frequently use coconut oil, some use castor oil, others use jojoba oil. Painting is sometimes a very location-specific need, such as those with thyca who need to paint over the throat, or those with breast or uterus/ovary issues who need to paint directly over those spots. So moving around is not appropriate for some people, and, without an oil carrier, even those who are moving around may eventually irritate the skin. How much oil to Lugol's is a personal matter. But it's much better to start off with the oil carrier than to wait until you have the dermatitis, because you first have to heal the dermatitis before you can use the oil carrier/Lugol's. It doesn't take a lot of oil to prevent the dermatitis. But you'll have to experiment and discover for yourself what works best. Some people are afraid the oil will prevent absorption. That's actually not how it works-- it's actually a myth that oils aren't absorbed by the skin-- it depends on which oil. But you want to use a nutritive oil carrier, not grease or something like corn oil or mineral oil. Castor oil has healing properties of its own and is very valuable for this, some use a combo of castor and coconut (which has skin healing properties). Jojoba oil is the closest to our own hair and skin oils, and absorbs rapidly. There are other nutritive oils that would work. But these are the 3 most often discussed.--moderator> Hi ,> Lugol's will dry out your skin.> So - when painting on the body, use a different spot every day.> For targeted painting you will need to apply something like Pawpaw> lotion to rehydrate the skin.> > > > Re: Lori long time no update> > > But yes, increasing the iodine is the protocol to seeing change in> disease states.
