Guest guest
My friend, my adult daughter, and I all started taking iodine (w/ supplements) a few months ago, and have been building up to 50mgs. I don't think my daughter isn't taking very much yet, and not always very regularly, but she says she can tell she feels better. Here's the really good news: My friend, who is on thyroid meds and has fibromyalgia has been taking 50mg (or a bit more) for a month and she says she can tell a BIG difference. (She said she could tell a difference even at the lower dosage at first.) She has less pain; she can move better; she feels sharper mentally. I'm so happy to report this, as she has a hard time and any improvement is so helpful. I am taking it primarily to help balance hormones and *hopefully* shrink some large uterine fibroids. No change yet, but I plan on giving it a few months and then maybe increasing dosage if needed. Sincerely, Debbie

Guest guest
I love hearing success stories!! I too have been taking iodine for almost two months and gradually increased to 50mg. for a little over a week and my body pain is definitely less. I don't like labels, so I just say I have body pain. My energy was almost immediate. My body temperature is still low in the morning at 97.3( it takes forever to take underarm before getting out of bed) I really would like to increase my compounding T3 & T 4 and reduced my synthroid. I thought they were working fine together but now that I see the body temp. and my increased energy and mental alertness with iodine- I don't think the synthroid's been helping me. Guest guest
It is great news. Debbie, energy levels and brain fog are physically easier/faster to change than actual flesh problems like uterine fibroids. So keep at it. You can be sure that the conditions to allow your body to heal from the fibroids are being set up and are occurring. Many women have used external painting of Lugol's and found that really made a difference in getting the fibroids to shrink. (Same with fibrocystic breasts. After a few months on iodine I realized that the fibrocystic issue I had had simply faded away without my noticing, after I'd been painting and then sort of forgot about it.) Always mix the Lugol's in a carrier oil, like coconut oil, castor oil, or jojoba oil. The liquid iodine has an oxidative effect, which with daily use eventually irritates the skin and causes a dermatitis that is uncomfortable and takes time to heal. So you want to use a carrier oil (some people use different oils alternating, or mix oils) to avoid skin irritation from the start. I recommend painting an amount over and above your supplement amount. We know that iodine on the skin soaks in and is used by the body, but I feel more comfortable if folks *add* the paint to their regimen rather than substitute for oral intake. -- moderator On 25 Jan 2012 at 6:21, Buist, ND HC wrote: > > > > That is awesome! > > Buist, ND HC > > Re: Update--friend w/fibro improving on iodine > > My friend, my adult daughter, and I all started taking iodine (w/ > supplements) a few months ago, and have been building up to 50mgs. > I don't think my daughter isn't taking very much yet, and not > always very regularly, but she says she can tell she feels better. > > Here's the really good news: My friend, who is on thyroid meds and > has fibromyalgia has been taking 50mg (or a bit more) for a month > and she says she can tell a BIG difference. Guest guest
Just a personal observation. Many years ago I had to have a mammogram (ouch- never again!) which showed 35+ cysts which were fine needle aspirated ( ouch again) and shown to be non cancerous. Even when my cycles finished these lumps remained painful. Finally they are softening. So, I will continue with the iodine even if there are no further benefits. Guest guest
hi I at one time had over 100 of those stupid cysts in my breast . i was sent to a specialist but i had so many he did not know where to start. So I went out searching the benefits of vitamins and found if I were to take 1000 units (mg?) of Vit E that it might get rid of them so I did it for 3 to 6 months and when my next breast exam came up my doctor was feeling my breasts and could not find one. He was so surprised that he asked what I did different. Now he was one to believe vitamin did no good but color our pee so I told him what I had been taking and he was so shocked.
