Guest guest
Would you mind furnishing the reference for where you read this? Speaking only for myself, I'm unaware of any way in which iodine measurably affects the clotting cascade or works as a platelet deaggregator, and would be interested to check it out. Guest guest
I've read it in several places. After initially reading this a couple of days ago, I think on Dr. 's website, possibly? I googled it again this morning to see if I was remembering right. Many references came up to " Iodine Blood Thinner. Guest guest
I just went through Dukes preop surgery they removed all blood thining supplements I was taking and left iodine stay. the same thing happened at UNC of NC. so is it really a blood thiner? Dukes and UNC's infectious disease dr's did not think so. I continued all before through and after the surgery and narry a bleed occured. in fact at one point for two days I did not bleed at all. still taking the iodoral at 50 mg a day. so ask your self was your source a writer only, injecting his opinion or was he an infectious disease dr? Guest guest
Followed up on the google search, found nothing that indicated iodine acts as a blood thinner. Search engines aren't particularly discriminating: if you enter your terms generally and the words iodine and blood and thinner appear anywhere in the article, it will pull it (and hundreds more) up for you, few if any of which will have any relevance to your actual inquiry. There are a few areas of concern if you're taking certain kinds of prescription drugs, but those are things you need to be discussing with the doctor who prescribed them. There are a number of supplements that actually do have a so-called blood-thinning effect, most of which no one pays the slightest bit of attention to, except possibly when undergoing surgery or when taking some serious med like Coumadin. Guest guest
Dr. son says, " Iodine stabilizes the heart rhythm, lowers serum cholesterol, lowers blood pressure, and is known to make the blood thinner as well, judging by longer clotting times seen by clinicians. Iodine is not only good for the cardiovascular system, it is vital. http://iodine.imva.info/index.php/iodine-and-your-heart/ > > > > > > > > I just read that iodine is a blood thinner.
