Guest guest
Hello Louise, You can find information on this in the Guide to Supplementing with Iodine, located in our Files. It was sent to you when you joined; if you didn’t save it, please go to Files, then New Members Read First, the Guide to Supplementing with Iodine. #18 explains iodine and Hashi's. You can also get more information from Dr. Brownsteins book, IODINE, WHY YOU NEED IT, WHY YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT. Kathleen moderator iodine and Hashi I know this has been discussed before but could someone tell me exactly where I can find more information on exactly how iodine helps with Hashi. I run into people all the time that want to chalenge me on this subject and I don't have enough information to fight back with good answers. I know my husband was helped with his hashi by using high doses of lugol's. What do I say to these people that are preaching that using iodine with hashi is bad? I need facts to show them.thanks, Louise
Guest guest
There is detailed information on this question in the Guide To Supplementing that all new members get, is available on the website, and which is sent out to the entire membership every couple of weeks. If you want the science and solid language, get Dr Brownstein's book, Iodine. It is easy to read but fully footnoted for source information.Recently I loaned his book to a young friend of mine who is pregnant for the first time and she became convinced, has decided to start taking iodine, at the 12.5mg that is the max recommended for new-to-iodine pregnant women. -- moderator > I know this has been discussed before but could someone tell me > exactly where I can find more information on exactly how iodine helps > with Hashi. Guest guest
Hi Louise, 's site has - or had - copies of Dr Brownstein's books about iodine and thyroid - I would suggest you buy those. Not expensive and are written so as to be easy to understand. iodine and Hashi I know this has been discussed before but could someone tell me exactly where I can find more information on exactly how iodine helps with Hashi. Guest guest
Thanks, I do have this book and loaned it out and was looking to send the information to a person who has said that people with Hashi that have high TSH can't take iodine because this means they have a lot of inflammation. But since I didn't have my book I couldn't look the information up. I looked in the files and guess I got lost because I wasn't seeing what I was looking for. I'll just keep looking. I would like to know if this is true or not. Guest guest
It's not true, Louise. The " Guide to Supplementing " has a long section debunking the idea that people with Hashi can't take iodine. Lack of iodine is a causative factor for Hashi's. For 150 years iodine was the treatment for Hashi's. -- On 4 Feb 2012 at 2:00, LouiseH wrote: > Thanks, I do have this book and loaned it out and was looking to send > the information to a person who has said that people with Hashi that > have high TSH can't take iodine because this means they have a lot of > inflammation. Guest guest
Me too! It really made me like and respect her even more. I'd also like to say that when I first was learning about the iodine protocol, I was scared just like a lot of people are because of the demonization of iodine. I ordered Dr B's book and he put every single one of my concerns to rest. And I started iodine as quickly as I could thereafter. -- On 3 Feb 2012 at 21:52, Buist, ND HC wrote: > > > > Yeah! Guest guest
One of the " chestnuts " I've seen repeated over and over is that the Japanese consume the highest amount of iodine in their diets and have the highest rate of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis in the world " . Thing is, no one I've challenged on that can come up with even one study that shows this to be true. I would suggest to you that you send the ball back into their court. Ask them to show you documented evidence of Hashi's being aggravated, longterm, by iodine. I suspect they will have difficulty. Guest guest
Michele,TSH is a poor measure of your thyroid. It really is measuring the hormone that stimulates your thyroid, not the thyroid itself. The tests that will really help are Free T3 and Free T4. And if you have Hashis, it doesn’t matter what the TSH is, you are sick! Remember that before they developed blood tests, they went by your symptoms. Guest guest
Thank you. I was just wondering because I was listening to Dr. Brownstein's vidoe the other day and he kept talking about the TSH being high. I'm not 100% sure that I have hashis. I had antibodies show up once and not since. I feel so much better since doing the iodine (thank you Louise). I have been able to come off of quite a bit of my T3. > > > > > There is detailed information on this question in the Guide To > > > Supplementing > that all new members get, is available on the > > > website, and which is sent out to > the entire membership every couple > > > of weeks. > > If you want the science and solid language, get Dr > > > Brownstein's book, Iodine. Guest guest
Doesn't change anything. For 150 years Lugol's was the treatment for Grave's Disease (hyperthyroid) as well. The thyroid becomes diseased when it doesn't have enough iodine. Any thyroid imbalance is a call for iodine. And those who supplement with iodine will avoid future thyroid imbalances. -- On 4 Feb 2012 at 17:03, miper70 wrote: > What if you have hashis and low to non detectable TSH? Guest guest
Louise, One really good piece of the puzzle to get your mind around is the fact that ALL of the fears about iodine are based on something called the Wolff-Chaikoff Effect (W-C). The WC turns out to have been, literally, a scientific fraud-- The WC doesn't exist, it is wholly made up and the " evidence " for it was fake. It has been debunked, yet the lies about iodine, and teaching WC as truth, continue in medical schools to this day. Here is an article that tells the truth about WC. If you can get this digested, you can head the entire debate off at the root. http://optimox.com/pics/Iodine/IOD-04/IOD_04.html But you'll still be best off reading Dr B's Iodine book because he lays everything out so carefully, step-by-step and easy to read. -- moderator On 4 Feb 2012 at 20:21, jprocure@... wrote: > One of the " chestnuts " I've seen repeated over and over is that the > Japanese consume the highest amount of iodine in their diets and have > the highest rate of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis in the world " . > > Thing is, no one I've challenged on that can come up with even one > study that shows this to be true. > > I would suggest to you that you send the ball back into their court. > Ask them to show you documented evidence of Hashi's being aggravated, > longterm, by iodine. > > I suspect they will have difficulty. > > Jaye > > > > > > I know this has been discussed before but could someone tell me > > exactly where I can find more information on exactly how iodine > > helps with Hashi.
