I went looking for an alternative to an RO filter and found a company that makes a fluoride filter. You have to make sure that you have the water pressure set low enough as the fluroride filter requires only .5 gal per minute flow. I've been buying from them for 3 years and am happy with it. I've been using water filters since the early 1980s so once I decide on a company, I've done my research.

I have the 3-canister undersink model. Strongly suggest getting one that takes out chlorine, chloramine, sediments, VOCs, etc. and not just the fluoride filter. But they have a large range of options.

I came across this company when I was doing research for water filters, but I've never ordered from them....

I am very concerned about fluoride in my water and have been using a system

similar to this one. My concern these days is aluminum. The filter is comprised

of aluminum and that aluminum is what takes out the fluoride. There are some

folks who say the water contains too much aluminum when it comes out of those

types of filters (which is the same as mine). Have you heard of this and, if

so, are you confident that it is not adding yet another unwanted element to the

water?

This is a huge issue for me since " alzheimers' runs in my family.

Thanks for any feedback

First, the element used in the fluoride filters is " alumina " which is the raw

material for aluminum-- it's not the same thing. Second, in my filter, the

multi-

stage filter section comes after the fluoride section, so the water is then

filtered

of metals. That's the key, is that the fluoride is filtered, the the

multi-filtered to

remove anything else negative in the water.

The website I gave, Crystal Quest, is very helpful for this question. You can

also call them and ask them. I've found them to be friendly and helpful.

If you can't find resolution about your concerns, then you should find an RO

filter

that you can afford and maintain. There are countertop models now that are in

the same price range as this type.

Of course what I really want is a whole house filtration system, but can't swing

that at this time.
