Guest guest
Hi , This is very good information! However, the discussion has veered away from Iodine, which is the topic of this group. Please continue this on the Iodine Off Topic Group. Here is the link: IodineOT/ Thank you! Kathleen moderator Re: a very blocked pathway Water kefir is good for maintenance of a healthy gut. It is not enough for correcting an unhealthy one. The fact that you improved some when first starting the water kefir tells me that your gut is an absolute mess (as it has slightly more bacteria than commercial yogurt) you would do well with a MUCH stronger probiotic. I and a large group of allergy moms are working on a theory to totally replace the bacterial balance in our guts, and, more importantly, those of our children. We use custom probiotics 6 strain http://www.customprobiotics.com/products.htm or VSL#3. Human strain are even more effective, but much more costly. You start VERY small (as too much will give you diarrhea and strong detox symptoms it's so strong) and build up tolerance very slowly. The latest estimates of bacterial cell counts in the intestine are about 100 trillion (http://www.sciencemag.org/content/307/5717/1915.abstract). All standard medical literature is in agreement that it takes 5 days for the cells to replace themselves in the gut. In theory, gut healing shouldn't take much longer than that. So, the theory goes that if you can build up to taking 100 trillion CFUs per day, then take them for about 2 weeks (to also replace the bacteria hanging out in the appendix), you will have replaced every unbalanced bacteria and recolonized the now-healed gut. However, most people can't build up high enough because of the terrible detox/die-off symptoms. So, with the use of the Vit C and other detox protocol here, AND the addition of clay (bentonite or pascalite, whichever speaks to you) in order to carry toxins out and balance the PH level of the gut, people can usually mediate the detox and are able to then build up. Starting with clay a week or 2 before prepares the the gut for the probiotics. Commercial yogurt: 1 million cfu/mlWater kefir: around 700,000 cfu/mL Avg milk kefir: 44 million CFU/mlAvg kombucha: 100,000 CFU/mlKimchi: around 1 billion cfu/mL> >> > > > IMO your bowels should be getting better. maybe you aren't getting enough thyroid meds? what med? how much/what kind of iodine are you taking?> > I had horrible bowel probs, I could be more specific but don't even want to think how I suffered, blech. I am completely normal now, ususally go 2X a day. I take 240mg NT and 100--125mg Iodoral/lugols.> > Gracia> > > > > > The original reason I found out I was hypothyroid was because I went to a natural/alt MD about bowel immotility. For several years he has treated my thyroid, along with hormonal things. I feel great now. EXCEPT my bowels are no better. How can I work on it if the iodine can't help me get better?> > > > Believe me, there is nothing anyone can Eat or Not Eat that I haven't tried. Only when I first started water kefir did I get better for a period of about 5 months. I still drink the kefir but the improvement never returned.> > > > Friends and family are in awe of my healthy nutritional habits so it isn't like I'm not treating my organs well. I love local vegetables. I never eat fast food, no sodas, very very little white flour & sugar. I use coconut oil and locally raised grass fed everything and raw milk for kefir. I go hiking, I speed walk, I am young looking (at age 50). But my guts don't work.> > > > Now I may have developed diverticulitis from years of inadequate daily cleansing.
