Guest guest
When people first start taking iodine, their thyroid may swell in order to uptake as much iodine as possible (thyroid is starved for iodine). Sometimes people experience pain like you are describing. It's not the whole wheat, it was the sandwich pushing against the thyroid, referring pain in the nerve to the ear. 1. Live with the pain until your thyroid calms back down. 2. Or, lower your dose to ramp up more slowly to avoid major bodily changes that can be uncomfortable. These can include a swollen thyroid, as you mention, or bromide detox symptoms. -- moderator On 10 Feb 2012 at 22:42, tguinto2003 wrote: > I just ate an egg sandwich with whole wheat bread and I suddenly felt > some kind of pain and discomfort in my ear. > > I have a large benign cystic nodule in my thyroid.
