iodine benefits for thyroidless person?

I know iodine has many benefits in all tissues and glands, but specifically for taking care of thyroid hormone balace for a thyroidless person, would you say iodine (protocoll) is essential and worth recommending?Susa

It doesn't take the place of thyroid hormone replacement, but in terms of

balancing the body

and thyroid function, absolutely. Plus all the rest of the benefits. Iodine is

an essential

nutrient that improves function of every system in the body. And, everyone is

deficient

(except possibly the Japanese).

now she saw her thyroid doctor and she is confused. I don't have all answers

either but I know I would not trust all her doctor said.

She had thyroid cancer and thyroid was removed, so doctor said Armour or other

dessicated hormones are forbidden because they might create more thyroid

hormones in the body and cause cancer again. Is this true?

For the same reason he said no to iodine. He said 80% of iodine concentrates in

the tryroid gland and there is no reason to use it if you're thyroidless.

So he prescribed T4 and T3. I had suggested a stress saliva test for adrenals

before Armour but doctor said AF is very rare and since she is overweight it's

unlikely, normally patients lose weight if they have AF. I know this is true,

many lose weight (myself) but being overweight does not exclude it.

Any thoughts on this? How can I encourage her to keep taking iodine? I think it

is very important for her hormonal balance and also weight loss.
