Guest guest
Hi all, I been to the doc's today and instead of having to fight a battleaxe who thinks I am just 'depressed, middle aged, a carer, fat and lazy'. I had a lovely retired gent who was filling in, who actually listened to me, did a quick blood sugar test just in case of diabetes and then started asking me questions. Then he started putting down blood tests, he was a bit too fast for me to note what he was asking for, but he did say he thought I might have 'Sjögren's Syndrome'. An auto-immune problem, the symptoms seem very spot on for all my conditions, including the on off nature of some of them. It even included a reason for the high Ferratin I have (being a chronic disease the ferratin would be high). So, is the iodine protocol a good idea with this in my possible future? Regards G. Guest guest
Congratulations and getting an interested medical practitioner - even if it is only in the short term! Guest guest
Hi, Glad you are here to ask questions. I have heard of others with this condition that use Low Dose Naltrexone for it with success. More info below....Glowing,grace~"It is well that the people of the nation do not understand our banking system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before morning."- Henry Ford "When the government gets involved in the private sector and picks out winners and losers, it screws up the whole market," "The freedom and happiness of man...[are] the sole objects of all legitimate government." -- Jefferson Have you heard of Low Dose Naltrexone otherwise known as LDN? When used in low doses, (3.0-4.5 mg per day) it has wonderful, life changing effects with illnesses such as Crohn’s Disease, prostate cancer and multiple sclerosis, along with many other immune system disorders. One lady reported treating her Crohn’s disease with LDN. She claims to the LDN has helped reduce her symptoms significantly. One of the guys on the list has both MS and prostate cancer and he swears by this med. I’ve heard people with MS talk about leaving canes, braces, and even wheelchairs by the wayside after starting treatment with Low Dose Naltrexone. It’s cheap, easy to take (it’s a compounded pill or you can dissolve a 50 mg pill in 50 ml of distilled water and take what you need each nite, letting you work up to the best dose for you) and effective against all sorts of auto immune disorders. If I understand correctly, it works by encouraging the body to release more of the endorphins that our immune system seems to lack. It’s taken once a day, before bed. It is an immune system modulator, helping the immune system to function at its best. Amazingly, it helps 85% of people with MS stop the progression of their disease. You still have some who aren’t helped, but just think of all the people who wouldn’t have to take those life shortening MS drugs who could have a better life! Check out more info at LDNInfo.org or on Facebook at Got Endorphins. Lots of info and personal testimonies. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/09/19/one-of-the-rare-drugs-that-actually-helps-your-body-to-heal-itself.aspx?e_cid=20110919_DNL_art_3 I used www.AllDayChemist.com in India to get my Naltrexone. You don’t need an Rx with ADC. It is called Revia and comes in 50 mg tablets, in a 10 pack. There is a standard $25.00 shipping charge on all orders. If you are going to order for several people, do it all at once and split the shipping charge. I ordered $400+ last time and it was still only $25.00. I recommend them highly. Just don't use Titan Money. In fact, if you send ADC a check, I think you get a discount. Wishing you the best! Oh, it does sometimes take 3-4 weeks to get, so don't be surprised if it takes a while. However, my last order came in less than 2 weeks. LDN is the BEST investment I have ever made in my health. This is the best general article I have seen on LDN. Guest guest
I had a tentative dx of Sjogren's. My symptoms improved substantially when I stopped antidepressants and started thyroid therapy. Guest guest
It's still a possibility as my TSH has gone up to 4.08 (upper range is 5) . But that could be the iodine making the TSH rise. Guest guest
Here in the land of 'Free' health care (Britain), unless your TSH is substantially above 5, better yet above 10, then you don't get your FT3 and FT4 done. I would have to go to a private doc, and pay for the TSH, FT3 and FT4. Probably about £85.00 which I haven't got. My last tests, mid November which I managed to pay for (but only the FT3 and FT4), showed FT3 5.1 (range 2.1 to 6.8) FT4 18.1 (range 12 to 22). I don't feel substantially ill'er than I was. I am putting my present condition down to the Sjogrens as an active immune response, because I am in the latter stage of Bronchitis, which will have triggered a serious auto immune response, so all my previous symptoms have returned. Including the IBS, which I thought had been cured by a gluten and wheat free diet (so am I gluten intolerant or not???). I have read on here that higher TSH is normal on iodine, in a way I was hoping it would have shoved it higher still to shake my battleaxe doctor out of her complacency. I am still waiting for the results of the ANA test and the doc asked for a Mitochondria test as well. I have had symptoms for 15 years at least, a firm diagnosis of Sjogrens would be a relief, not something to dread. As I am so tired of fighting my doctors to do SOMETHING to help me. g. > > > > > > > > Hi, > > > > > > > > Glad you are here to ask questions.
