Guest guest
I, too, was taking iodine when my dr started me on NatureThroid. She wanted me to drop my iodine usage down to 1 drop of Lugols with 1/2 grain of NT. But she did want me on some iodine for ovarian cysts and thyroid nodules. So, I started out at the dose and based on my symptoms I have worked my way up to using 10 drops of lugols transdermally over problem areas and 1 Iodoral/day. So, I'm way above what she is comfortable with me taking. And we've increased my NT to 1.5 gr/day with the freedom to raise or lower my dose depending upon how I'm feeling. So, MY experience is that I've done well on higher doses of both, but I did raise them slowly and monitor my symptoms as I did so.Blessings,Laralee On Fri, Mar 2, 2012 at 10:02 AM, christine.barry76 <christine.barry76@...> wrote: Hello, A little backstory, for the last decade, I've had a feeling I was hypothyroid although blood work never showed it. I'm currently taking 50mg 5 days per week with 2 days off. I saw a ND a few weeks ago and had lab work done. Yesterday the results came in and her office called me that my ND wants to put me on Armour but I asked for Naturethroid instead. I think the dose is 1.5 grains. When I saw this ND I told her I was using iodine and she wanted me to stop. I will not do this as I know it's so good for me. I'm seeing her in 2 weeks to get the formal test results. I guess my main question is should I drop my iodine dose at all while starting Naturethroid or is 50 mg. a good dose to stay on? I wish I had an iodine friendly doctor to go to but it's slim pickings around here. Any suggestions?
Guest guest
If it were me, I would continue the iodine. The tests you've taken reflect you being on iodine, so I would continue on that path and add in the thyroid meds. You might ask about starting a lower dose of lower meds though, usually they have you ramp up to the dose. Guest guest
Thank you Laralee. It sounds like iodine and NT are working well for you. > > > ** > > > > > > Hello, > > > > A little backstory, for the last decade, I've had a feeling I was > > hypothyroid although blood work never showed it.
