Guest guest
A friend's daughter is going through radiation treatment for uterine cancer. Since iodine helps the body get rid of the bad effects of radiation, would it be a good thing to take during the radiation treatments? Or would it be better to wait until the treatments are over and then use iodine to help the body heal? I do not have much faith in the current medical protocol to treat cancer (radiation and chemo). This is mostly out of curiosity, since I doubt I will be able to actually suggest this to them. Debbie
Guest guest
I shouldn’t speak out here because I’m not all that informed but I had a lot of Radiation a few years ago to treat Cancer and I think I’ve paid for it since then. Radiation (even from the Sun) causes Oxygen Free Radicals to form and these can do a lot of damage for years to come. I think of Iodine as an Antioxidant but here is what the hospital had to say about taking any. 1. Do not take any antioxidant supplements when you are receiving radiation therapy or chemotherapy and for a week after your treatments have finished. Hopefully someone else who knows more about Iodine will chime in here.
