Guest guest
I've had a problem with cystic acne on and off for the last 20 years. I also have thyroid, hormone and candida issues. I just started iodine about a month ago and my detox is causing a major breakout. It's very discouraging. I've been taking a liver support supplement for a year or so before I started the iodine. Also 3 months ago I started an anti-candida diet. I'm taking all the companion supplements as well. I worked my way up to 20 drops of Lugol's 2%. Did I jump up to a higher dose too fast? Should I back off some? I avoided iodine for years since I've always been told that it causes acne breakouts. However, with reading Dr. Brownstein's book I know how important it is for our body. Is this just the healing crisis? Anyone experience horrific breakouts? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
Guest guest
Hi ,That would be hard. But being discouraged is the opposite of what you should be feeling. The gunk in your body has to find a way out and skin eruptions is one way that can occur. When I have detox symptoms, I just watch to make sure they work their way through in a reasonable amount of time. If the detox is too severe, I back off and move up more slowly. in AlaskaOn Thu, Feb 23, 2012 at 10:25 AM, christine.barry76 <christine.barry76@...> wrote: I've had a problem with cystic acne on and off for the last 20 years. Guest guest
Try adding zinc picolinate to your regimen. That can help acne. I've all but stopped breaking out since taking it.Shauna On Thu, Feb 23, 2012 at 2:25 PM, christine.barry76 <christine.barry76@...> wrote: I've had a problem with cystic acne on and off for the last 20 years. Guest guest
Wow, my skin has improved a lot, I used to have minor breakouts going most of the time, and also had detox acne, and had not thought about my adding a zinc supplement as helping my skin, but I'll bet it has! I am using Jarrow Zinc Balance, to get the proper zinc/copper balance - I have a friend who experienced a copper imbalance problem from taking too much zinc, for immune support, without copper. When I had detox acne, I would try salt loading (because I knew my detox pathways could use flushing, even if the acne does not clear up as quickly as say a headache would), and I put castor oil on the eruptions - that worked amazingly well.
