Iodine Lab Results

I got my hakala labs results back today and was thrilled to see:

93% iodine excretion 24 hours (46.35 mg)

and

1.22mg flouride (ref range <1.3)

Those are both great numbers

HOWEVER the bromide is: 13.95mg (reg rang <5)

I am doing all the support protocols (granted I just upped my selium and barely

added celtic sea salt a week ago).

I am hypo, with extremely high reverse t3 and feel very tired and sluggish.

Could the bromide detox be a major factor here on my hypo symptoms and feeling

crummy?

Also, I have been doing 37mg for about 4 months...

Now that I am above 90%, should I scale back to 1 Iodoral per day, or do I need

to go up to 50mg for another week or month, and let the body cleanse of the

bromine??

I wonder if bromine is any of my prescription meds. Is there a source to look

that up?

thanks!

Your saturation level is more than likely artificially elevated due to your toxic level of bromide. It blocks receptors and doesn't allow the iodine to get into the cells so it flushes it out. You do need salt - especially with bromide levels that are high.

Yes high bromide / detox can give you hypo symptoms. I would not back off on iodine. I would support the liver and adrenals to make sure that your body can deal with the detox. Please see the guide to supplementing with iodine for information on what works for both of these suggestions. www.steppingstonesliving.com/resources/iodine/

No I guess I was just hesitant to do the full 1/2 so I have just been doing

1/4th (the whole sodium thing).

Detox symptoms: I have 11 of the symptoms on the chart on page 7 of s

PDF, including most of the left pyschiatric and also eyelid twitching, which was

interesting to see.

I just assumed its mostly side effects of the meds I am on for sleep

(benzo+another drug that helps sleep) and an antidepressant (all of which i want

to get off of).

I've been on Iodine for 4 months on doses 37-50, and was on a very small mg

before that for about 6 months... But I only just started the salt, selenium and

milk thistle.

My Reverse T3 is high (380)

Hashimotos lab was 7 or 8, but Im told the fact I have any means it is

Hashimotos but my body has it " in check "

Anyway I have a hard time telling if the symptoms im having are related to the

high RT3, or the Bromine, or the hypothyroid, or the hypogonadism... Or a big

huge combination of them all :(

It will be interesting to see how you do now that you have added the necessary supplementation. From all I am reading the companion nutrients are essential to taking iodine. There have to be certain balances in the body and the companion nutrients are in important part of that.

Have you read Dr Brownstein's Salt book? It may help you understand the differences between table salt and unrefined salt (which still has the minerals). in Alaska

Hi ,

High RT3 is most often cleared up by detoxifying the liver. Milk thistle, dandelion, organic vegetable juices (the liver especially loves carrot juice), coffee enemas are all helpful in this area as is a diet rich in organic vegetables, no sugar, no flour and other grains containing gluten, no fried foods. You will find much more if you google.

Kathleen,

Can you direct me to a chart, document, or web site where I can learn the

Thyroid Hormones & what they mean + what to do if they are out of bounds? I am

TOTALLY confused about this. Thank you for explaining High RT3. What does " High "

mean?

PS) This site is WONDERFUL ! Many thanks for your effort!

I did a ZRT test a few years back, and my TPO was 13 - here is their comment on

that:

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPO) are low indicating that Hashimoto's

thyroiditis is unlikely.
