Just wondering about iodine's bacteria killing functions. Does it kill both good

and bad? My questions stems from this: I have started putting iodine into my

kombucha and kefir and those methods really mask the bitter taste. But I wonder

if I might be killing off the good bacteria in those drinks by doing this. I've

been taking my iodine like this for just under 2 weeks.

Hello Lyn,

No, iodine does not kill good bacteria. This is written about more in the Guide to Supplementing with Iodine you were sent when you joined. If you didn’t save it, please go to our Files, then New Members Read first, then scroll down to The Guide to Supplementing with Iodine. Please read the whole Guide as a lot of time and energy went into preparing that document. Many of your questions will be answered there. I read it over about once a month just to keep my mind refreshed on the information there!

Lyn,

I put my Lugol's drops into a small amount of juice-- I use half and half pure

unsweetened cranberry and pomegranate juices, about a tablespoon of each,

add the drops, then add a little water. The bitter complexity of the juices,

which I

love, totally covers the taste, and those juices are very healthy and worth the

caloric intake.

So you're not alone in seeking a solution to the taste problem. That's part of

why Iodoral tablets were developed.
