Painting........

Itching is because the skin is soaking up the iodine like mad. Itching occurs

when people first use magnesium oil, for the same reason.

If you are going to be painting your scar regularly, you need to use a carrier

oil.

The iodine is oxidating and will irritate the skin. It's not toxic to the skin,

it's just

a chemical thing. So you want to take a small amount of oil in your hand, then

add some drops of iodine, then apply. Or use the applicator-- be aware the

sponge will be soaking up medicine.

Just use enough oil to lubricate, not to make a big mess. You want an oil that

soaks in quickly, like Jojoba or coconut oil. Castor oil is healing in its own

right

and is a very good choice for healing. Other good options have been

discussed. Even olive oil would be good, not as good as those others, but

serviceable.

You don't want to use vegetable oil like corn or soy or canola etc.
