Guest guest
I have all kinds of symptoms of hypothyroid and adrenal fatigue. Saliva test shows high cortisol at all 4 points. I'm taking adaptogens that seem to be helping. My thyroid labs are " normal " and I am missing some of the classic hypothyroid symptoms so doctor is no help. My labs are a little less than optimal, but not really that bad considering how bad I feel. For reference: TSH fluctuates from 1.66 to 4.39 (though never tested during full depression) FT3 5.2 (range 3.5-6.5 pmol/L) fairly stable FT4 16.5 (range 12-22 pmol/L) fairly stable I had an appointment with a new ND on Wednesday. I told her that I plan to do the iodine protocol. She was a little concerned about the amounts I want to take, but said she wants to support me in this. She said she thinks I am thyroid resistant. I would think that my hormone levels would be higher if that were the case. She reviewed all the printouts I gave her with info about the supplements I am taking, my symptoms and history, temperature chart etc. She called me tonight to say that she wants me to take tyrosine. She's concerned about me taking iodine without it. I know tyrosine could help (especially since most of my symptoms are the mental health ones), but I kind of wanted to see what the iodine would do for me on its own. If I take them together, I won't know what effect each one has. I know I am deficient in iodine, but I don't know whether or not I am deficient in tyrosine. My thought is to see how far iodine will take me and maybe add tyrosine later to see if that makes a difference. Is there any reason it would be a bad idea to take iodine without adding tyrosine? in NS, Canada
