Monday will be the start of my 3rd week on BFL. So far so good, no real changes in my body but I do have more energy then before. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and remember there are no dumb questions!! Someone here will be able to help. Again Welcome :-) > Hey ladies I am so happy to join you. Guest guest
Hi Tina, The ratio is roughly 40% carbs, 40% protein, 20% fat. Joni has a page with the math on it: http://www.geocities.com/jgrrl2/howmuch.html You don't have to count calories at all. The palm/fist thing totally works, but knowing the ratio is helpful for reading labels and choosing recipes. There are some good recipe documents and folders in the club Files section: http://health./group//files/ > Hi, my name is Tina and I just started BFL on Monday. Guest guest
Sorry to hear that you have gained. I know how that is. Been there. Get back on track and get it off again. You can do it. <ib_domesticdiva@...> wrote: Hey girlies, Remember me??? I seriously need a kick in the butt (and I know Sue, and Sapphyre will oblige LOL). I lost a total of 35 pounds last year and as of this morning nearly 20 pounds have found their way back… I have NOT been doing anything remotely weight loss related in so long it’s no wonder they have found me. I’ve been down a bit…since last year my doctors have found more and more wrong with me. My daily prescriptions are up over 10 now… I had a colonoscopy and the esophagus-scopy thingie about 2 weeks ago, all they found wrong was a slight hiatal hernia, which I guess should be good news. Especially since weight loss can reverse it… I am seriously considering the stomach banding. Dr. said to give it a year before I decided to go on with it, it’s been nearly a year and half now. I am thinking this because I just can’t seem to stay on track and exercising hurts me so bad, because my Fibromyalgia has gotten much, much worse. I am now seeing a pain specialist. It helps quite a bit but the exercising still does me in. I have 2 goals for today: 1. which I am going to go do right now is make a cantaloupe smoothie. (DH bought one that is a bit under ripe to just eat) 2. Am going to lunch with MIL at Hometown Buffet, so I am going to start with a nice BIG HEALTHY salad and eat sensibly after that. Guest guest
Hi - Welcome back from lurkdom. Sorry I have been hit and miss with responding to the posts this week. Seems this will be my norm ;-) 1st- good for you keeping off 15 of the lbs you lost! It's never easy when you are dealing with pain and other health issues. 2nd - you are seeing someone for the pain from the fibromyalgia? Is he/she going to be able to "do something" so you can exercise in small increments? Even if you can do 5-10 minutes at a time, then rest and then do some more, that would be good. 3rd - post more often, that is how you will get the support and motivation and virtual kicks in the hiney. LOL!! Hugs and have a good new week! in WAGoal for Bloomsday 5/4/08: 275.4/251.6/225.4 (26.2 lbs to go!! 3.28/week ave loss needed - I have faith I will meet this goal !!)310/251.6/170 (-58.4 total, 11.6 from half-way point) Only I can change my life. Guest guest
Hi a I includeded some notes on the workouts I have below: I need something moderately challenging with basic to intermediate choreography and not ALL high impact. I need more workouts I can modify up and down depending on my Fibro. I also love chaptered DVDs a la Cathe's Kick Max. (I like the first part of KickMax and the leg drills - the other part is torture!) Circled I have: Coffee Meyer's--30 Min to Fitness Kickboxing--30 min to Fitness(General)--39 Min to Fitness Bootcamp Donna's note: Sorry, I don't have these - but Darcy does! Cathe's Low Max (Is this moderate enough?) Donna's Note: even though this is "lower" impact Cathe, it is still really hard! Squeeze w/ EffingerSqueeze Stronger Donna's Note: I have the original Squeeze but have been afraid to do it b/c I'm afraid the "tucking" would be bad for my back. I may be selling/'trading this one so maybe we can work something out! IIlara's Body Strikes Donna's Note: Don't know about this one - but sounds interesting! Jazzercise--LIVE--Core--Jazz Cardio Strength Stretch Donna's Note - Must say, I'm interested in these! Jillian's 30 Day ShredJillians Banish Fat & Boost Metabolism Donna's Note - I have Shred, but I'm scared of it. I did BFBM and liked it although there is impact. Cardio Dance Interval Workout w/Pam Cosmi Donna's Note - I'm interested in this one, too! Prevention 2 week total body turn around (I haven't liked alot of Prevention stuff but this looks enticing) Donna's Note - I like this set - but I tended to like the Preventions, too. 's Ultimate Taebo Donna - I think this one is pretty much standard fare for Tae Bo Prevention Kick Start Your Metabolism Donna's note - I'm interested in this one, too! Kettlenetics Complete Kettleball Kit Donna's note - I'm note a KBell user, but from what I have heard from the "experts" these are not "True" KBell workouts and may be dangerous. 's 4 Really Big Miles Donna's note - I did this one this past Friday. Definately one of my favorite 's - a lot of variety and a fun class setting. Walk of Belly Fat with Ellen Barrett Donna's Note - I have this one and I'm thinking of trading/selling it - it is very light - so it may be good for a Fibro day. The rest I don't have. 's Walk Away your Hips and Thighs Donna's note - this one is ok - not all that high on my list, but good if you need a 2 mile in your collection. A better bet may be the Target Kit that includes a 3 mile walk and the same "cuff" device. 's Cardio Kick Step Boxing Cathe's Drill Max Donna's note: I think I traded this one - not good for the back - high impact craziness a la Cathe The Foam Roller WorkoutRodney's AM Yoga for your week Don't know about those - but may like the foam roller one! :)In the least let me know if you disliked any of these!!!!Thank you all!!!a

Guest guest
hi paula sorry to hear you are under the weather hope you feel better soon. if i am reading this right you don't want complex choreo and high impact so i will give input on workouts i have done and what can be modified for your purpose... cathe's low max-low impact yes but does require you get down low in your squats and lunges for pulse reps and holds. its not to tricky choreo wise if you are familiar with cathe's step work. if you are not it may take a few times and some previews to figure out her moves. its overall a good workout not at all high impact but still brings intensity. there are many premixes so you don't have to do the " blast " (low impact versions of her pylometrics a la imaxes)so you can just do step combos, or half the workout etc. its of course chaptered well b/c its cathe and thats what you pay for > Jillians Banish Fat & Boost Metabolism-this is a great workout but i traded it b/c i wanted sara ivanhoes yoga makeover set. its mixed impact but jillian offers modifications and its not at all hard to follow. there weren't any premixes and i don't recall the chaptering. it may be okay but nowhere near as good as cathe's i am sure. it alternate various cardio bootcamp type moves with ab focused exercises standing or lying down. its not as intense as cathe but its still a good workout. if you have netflix i would try to rent this one first b/c tastes vary. while i did enjoy it it wasn't enough for me to keep it over another workout. > 's Ultimate Taebo-i dont' have this tae-bo but have most tae-bos and my experience is that they are almost the same stuff. its of course low impact in that there are no jumps, its easily modifiable, and easy to follow for the most part. i find tae-bo one of those workouts in that you get out of it what you put into it. > Amy's Kickbox & Surge Core Training> Amy's Cardio High Low-i have both of these and let me start with neither of them are moderate in choreography. kickbox surge is more doable however then cardio hi-lo. i have yet been able to do hi-lo cardio in full with the blasts knockouts. its just entirely intense as is. BUT both workouts offer pretty good chaptering and premixes so they are plus there if you can't do the whole workout. hi-lo cardio is mostly HI while kickbox surge is mixed. the kickboxing combos are mostly hi-lo in nature but can be modified to lower impact but the blasts are insane and very high impact. > Cathe's Drill Max-have to say if you want lower/moderate impact then this isn't it. its like her boot camp cardio on steriods. at least the boot camp's cardio was only a minute each with strength in between. this is over an over of high impact and fast moving strength work. its a great workout but if you not wanting high impact moves or anything that could bother your back i wouldn't bother with this one. hope that helps some kassia

Guest guest
Thanks Donna! I'll scratch the kettlebell one off my list. If Ellen Barret's Walk video is easier than , I think I will pass on it too. is about as easy as I need. I found 's 4 Really Big miles, Rodney's Yoga for Your Week & The Firm chiseled on Netflix. So I can actually do them before I buy them! Which means I probably will delay buying them and focus on the others. I think I will skip Cathe's Drill Max for now and go with Low Max. I need more challenging workouts as well for my good days. I actually have to see if Collage will replace my Kick Max because I scratched it. I never have tested their warranty. If you do decide you want to trade in Squeeze, then maybe you could send me your wish list if you already have it saved somewhere? ( I do have quite a few DVDs) I need to type up what I'd be willing to trade. I've never actually traded before. I think I have some sort of OCD DVD collection disease. But I'm getting to the point where I have no storage anymore. ;-) Thanks again!! a

Guest guest
Kassia, I think I'd rather have strep than a broken tooth! OWWW! I hope you are staying as pain free as possible! I know waiting for the caps to come in can be a nightmare. I had one they couldn't fit right and I was without a good tooth for 6 weeks.I hope its not near that long before they patch you up! Hmm, how does Amy's Kickbox compare to her step? Is it just as fast? I didn't like one of her step videos that I tried. I pretty much did one segment and sent it back to netflix. Granted I'm not overly big on step in the first place. I only hanker for it on occasion. I think you and Donna helped me decide to nix Drill Max and go for Low Max. I can do high impact just not for an entire workout very often. Lunges & squats I hate too, but that's because they are good for me. Thanks so much!!! a > > hi paula sorry to hear you are under the weather hope you feel better soon. if i am reading this right you don't want complex choreo and high impact so i will give input on workouts i have done and what can be modified for your purpose... > > cathe's low max-low impact yes but does require you get down low in your squats and lunges for pulse reps and holds. its not to tricky choreo wise if you are familiar with cathe's step work. if you are not it may take a few times and some previews to figure out her moves. its overall a good workout not at all high impact but still brings intensity. there are many premixes so you don't have to do the " blast " (low impact versions of her pylometrics a la imaxes)so you can just do step combos, or half the workout etc. its of course chaptered well b/c its cathe and thats what you pay for > > > Jillians Banish Fat & Boost Metabolism-this is a great workout but i traded it b/c i wanted sara ivanhoes yoga makeover set. its mixed impact but jillian offers modifications and its not at all hard to follow. there weren't any premixes and i don't recall the chaptering. it may be okay but nowhere near as good as cathe's i am sure. it alternate various cardio bootcamp type moves with ab focused exercises standing or lying down. its not as intense as cathe but its still a good workout. if you have netflix i would try to rent this one first b/c tastes vary. while i did enjoy it it wasn't enough for me to keep it over another workout. > > > Cathe's Drill Max-have to say if you want lower/moderate impact then this isn't it. its like her boot camp cardio on steriods. at least the boot camp's cardio was only a minute each with strength in between. this is over an over of high impact and fast moving strength work. its a great workout but if you not wanting high impact moves or anything that could bother your back i wouldn't bother with this one. > > > > hope that helps some > > kassia >
