Guest guest
Hello, and welcome. I was an art major in college, my husband thinks that makes me " weird " in a good way. lol and I too am kind of keeping this IOWL a secret. I have shared with two, and got not much response, so i have kept to to myself. I love the group. This is the " Community " wants us to have. I read the posts all the time. I don't post much myself, but will gradually add more. I too don't binge, i just graze alot. And all my weight goes to my waist, which makes jeans bag and sag on my legs because to get the waist to fit, the legs do not. :-) Wish we could design our own clothes!!! What a success you had with the breakfast the other morning! WTG Have you started your success journal? that one should definitely go in there. It is in episode # 18. Congrats and welcome to the group. Hope you continue to tell us of all your successes!! Wyna > > Hello! > > Finally I brought myself up to take a leap of faith and join this community. I am 23 years old, an art student and art enthusiast. As far as I remember I have been overweight, to the point that I don't even know what I would look like if I were thin! > I am about 40 pounds overweight, standing at 176 lbs at 5'7 " . Though I carry my weight well, meaning people can never guess how heavy I really am because I have a small frame and I am pear shaped, I am extremely self concious about my thighs and butt. They are jiggly and full of cellulite, and the thought of going to the beach with my friends is out if the question. My waist to hip ratio is extreme; I have a really tiny waist and a really big butt. It almost looks cartoony. Many people might say that's a good thing and is feminine, but I just hate it, have always hated it, was made fun of at school when I was a kid.. I can never find pants that fit me right, and I don't want to imagine what I must look like from behind. Especially with underwear or swimsuit, and no, I have never worn a bikini in my life. > I have tried many diets in my life, the one that worked the best was Dr. Elvebakk's diet (don't know if you guys no about her, she is the inventor of the Food Tree) in which I was not allowed to have any kind of pasta, rica, bread, potato, corn or any kind of processed sugar. My diet was simply eggs, vegetables, meat and fruit, which is really really healthy. But I found it soooo difficult to continue, and I quit after losing about 14 pounds. I started eating bread and rice and before I know it my weight jumped back up, thought I have not fully gained it all back, I gained about 8 lbs back. I am trying to get to my ultimate body, the body that I would be proud of. Somewhere around 130 lbs. I want to look good and feel good and be proportionate. > I have started listening to IOWL for the past week, and I must say I am very excited. I even lost 2 lbs in this past week! One of my biggest bafflements is that I am not craving all the sweets and stuff that I used to crave. Here's my eating pattern: if there's food in front of me, and its slightly delicious, it will end up inside of my mouth within seconds. I don't binge and purge, I never eat untill i'm physically too uncomfortable (althought I may have a couple times in my life) and basically all I need is to eat a little less, meaning I should crave things a little less and not obsess about the thought of eating so much. > Today I did something good. I was craving a Mcs cheezeburger, (and mind you, i don't eat fastfood, and last Mc I ate was probably a year ago) and I was alone. There was a Mcs infront of me. I entered and waited in line, it was 10 am, they were only serving breakfast. When I asked if they have hamburgers and they said no, the old me would have gotten something else from the menu that is slightly delicious. But instead I realized that I don't want anything other than that cheezeburger, so I thanked and walked out. Went into jamba juice to get a smoothie for breakfast. The clerk was trying to talk me into getting this really rich creamy smoothie and talking about how delicious it is and what a good breakfast it makes and how it's only 250 calories and such. Then I asked about the nutritional values and he pointed at a book. I looked through the book and found that that smoothie might by low calorie, but it contained about 40 grams of pure sugar! Having done Dr. Elvebakk's Food Tree diet for such a long time, I know that it is a terrible amount of sugar. So instead i craved something better, notice the word; CRAVE.. I actually WANTED something that is healthier for me. I went for a hot oatmeal without any brown sugar and with fresh bananas on top. It was maybe a total of 140 calories all together. I walked out with that and enjoyed it, it was not extremely delicious (oatmeal is not that great even with sugar, and this was without any sugar!) I enjoyed most of it and when I ran out of bananas to give it taste I threw the rest away because I was full, and didn't want the rest of it. This is absolutely a revolutionary road for me to start with a cheezeburger intention and end up with a sugarless oatmeal. I feel like this program, or rather this way of thinking, is my key to release my inner naturaly slender woman. > This experience today made me want to write to you all and share my experience. I am very happy that I am talking about this with someone, because I am sure my friends are sick of listening to me talk about all my different diets. This one is between me, and you guys. It is personal, slightly secret, and all that enjoyable. It is better than buying that Ritter sport chocolate when I am in Walgreens, and it feels better than obsessing over that leftover cheesecake in my refrigerator. I am ready to be the best that I can be, not only in my way of thinking about my body, but also in my art and career. > > Thank you all, and sorry if this is too long to read. I will write more frequently and shorter throughout my journey. >
Guest guest
Hello Mittyume.  I think it's GREAT that you've found something that works for you and fantastic that you were actually craving something healthy for your body. Doesn't it feel sooo good?? I guess with summer coming up all of a lot of us have a towards motivation of putting on that swimsuit and enjoying the day with friends and/or family. I feel exactly the same way.   I just wanted you to know that you are an inspiration for me tonight. :-) I have been feeling a bit blue and discouraged and you gave me a huge dose of inspiration.   I wish that i had discovered something at the age of 23 which could have helped me to overcome my problem with weight and helped me to discover ways to love my body better. I would really like to help in any way that I can.  Thank you for the inspiration  From: <lsageev@...> Subject: Re: Hello all! weightloss Date: Tuesday, May 18, 2010, 11:10 AM  First of all, welcome! Sounds like you've made enormous progress in just a short time with IOWL. Please continue to share these successes with us! Here's the second thing that struck me about your post.... It's my body double!! LOL! Actually, I was 181 lbs when I started this weight loss journey a few years back, and my goal was 135.... But yeah, the sands of time ran to the bottom of this hourglass when I was in my teens! :-) I did hit my goal--even at 135 I couldn't always find pants that fit well, but it was a lot easier.... And I did hit the point where I stopped thinking " thunder thighs " and started thinking " J Lo butt. " LOL! OTOH, I think one of the things that led to my regain was feeling way too thin on top. This time, I'm working on intent setting and visualizing where I have stored energy that can be released.... I'm now hanging out right at the top of my (our) healthy weight range. To the point where most of the month I'm " normal " weight, and ovulation or PMS bloating put me into " overweight " . But I think that at 43, not 23, this might be closer to my actual goal. :-) ________________________________ From: mittyume <mittyume@...> weightloss Sent: Mon, May 17, 2010 9:14:57 PM Subject: Hello all! Guest guest
I really like how the graduate courses are labeled exceptional education – it sounds like it covers the whole gamut. Can't wait to read about your workouts! hi everyone. just wanted to introduce myself. my name is amanda im 24 and live in nj. i dont have much time to go to the gym, but really want to tone my body, im not looking for serious muscle just some flattening and all around toning. im about 125lbs, 5'2, and feeling a little flabby.. generally i eat pretty healthy and try to stretch often. i have all day wednesdays and about an hour every remaining weekday. i cant spend a lot of cash on stuff. i was just wondering what everyone suggests as efficient workouts?? Guest guest
hi amanda, i am originally from jersey(jersey shore let me tell its getting harder to admit that these days LOL)but i live in VA now.i am a little shorter then you and about 10 lbs more.i fall more into trying to lose body fat and build lean muscle mass(not bodybuilders b/c i won't even get into what they really use since women can't get that large) all while building strength and trying to live pain free(past injuries)pilates are great overall as well as yoga. no equipment usually need(sometimes they call for 3lb hand weights). cardio is great, like laura suggested turbo jam b/c kickboxing really shapes and tones but turbo jam is really fun too. def. try netflix and try all types of workouts that might not require a lot of equipment(not sure if you have any but thrift stores and play it again sports usually reasonable). i mix yoga/pilates in with harder style kettlebells and weight lifting as well as kickboxing, running and occasionally i try to throw a dance, step or hi-lo workout in there too. i hope you post your workouts and check out some ideas from others! Guest guest
Wow, Kassia - you look taller in your pictures! So you and are around the same height! I'm just under 5'6" - but I have a small frame/small bones. Definately an candidate for osteoporosis - take my calcium and vitamin D....exercise, etc. all in the hopes of avoiding it. Oh - has anyone heard that prunes not only help prevent bone loss but help build it? I need to research that - someone told me that a couple of weeks ago. Take care - Donna Subject: Re: hello all!To: exercisevideos Date: Thursday, August 5, 2010, 6:12 PM 5foot. i teeter between 135-145 range. i bloat VERY easily esp.
