Will iodine improve the immune system?

I was just wondering if iodine will improve the immune system for fighting

infections without aggravating inappropriate immune responses like allergies? I

read Dr Brownsteins book and I remember him saying iodine would help hashi's not

make it worse, but what about other inappropriate immune responses?
