Guest guest
Yes, iodine, Vit C (at least 2000 mgs daily), lots of good quality water, and Epsom Salts baths will help. Linn Moderator > > Fluoride poisoning from Cipro?? It's been years since I've researched Iodine, I've been taking it therapeutically for several years. I took two doses of Cipro this week and had a reaction. I stopped taking it immediately, can't figure out why I took it without reading the warnings! My legs are weak and hurt, I can't stand for very long. It's not as bad today as last night, but very scary. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I haven't been diligent with my Iodoral lately, probably only taking half what I should be, so I'm not sure I'm saturated. > > Any help would be greatly appreciated, > > Debbie in Texas >
Guest guest
Hi, Sorry to hear about your reaction to Cipro. In case you're not aware of it, there is a good Facebook page, with recommendations of what to do if you have a reaction. Google " fluoroquinolone toxicity facebook " to get to the page. I sincerely hope your reaction will be short lived. I would keep up with your iodine, as well as take Mg, and continue or start the other suggestions on that site. Fluoride toxicity as a mechanism of action is often speculated; however if this were the sole cause, then there should be higher numbers of people adversely affected, if in fact, most of the current population is iodine deficient. I am a victim of Cipro myself, so I cannot recommend this class of antibiotics for anyone anymore, except in a life or death situation, for proven infection with a culture. However, in support of my personal opinion, there are increasing references within traditional published papers that certain populations are at increased risk of fluoroquinolone toxicity. This includes people with thyroid and other endocrine disorders such as diabetes, Mg deficiency, autoimmune conditions, etc. Sorry if this is considered " off topic " , however, I do consider this an important topic for everyone reading this forum. I recommend everyone reading this please read up on FQ toxicity on the internet to understand the true risks, however " rare " they might be. The adverse effects listed on the drug insert downplay the severity and duration of these potential reactions. Given that most people on this forum may already have health problem, the LAST thing you need is to add this to them. Read the info, so you can make an informed and aware choice about this class of antibiotics. Best of luck to you Debbie, again, I really hope the fact you're already on iodine helps to keep your reaction to a minimum! > > Fluoride poisoning from Cipro?? Guest guest
Thank you so much to Linn and josunsam for the encouragement. I was trying not to freak out yesterday while reading the " floxed " testimonials! Yes, epsom salts bath, yes, more iodine and LOTS of vit. C as well as magnesium, NAC, super foods, comfrey tea with red peppers flakes, co-Q10, omega 3s, I noticed the taste in my mouth within an hour or so of taking extra iodine. And each subsequent dose so far. My daughter and I are convinced that the " metallic " taste is actually the halide that's being detoxed, not the iodine. It was stronger and different than the usual taste I get once in a while. I spit it out, no way was I going to swallow it! My husband teased me about carrying a spit cup around. I wish I could get it tested! The malady I am dealing with is a brown recluse bite near my eye. I was told there was no sign of infection (I'd been treating it myself, not knowing it was a BR bite), but should take the anti-biotic " just in case " . I can't believe I didn't even read the package first, I was so not with it. I do feel better today, than yesterday, so that is encouraging. Thank you again! I can't imagine what it would be like for someone who is deficient in iodine, just think, it could have saved my life and quality of life! Literally!
