Hi Shauna:

I started off

at 1 drop of 5% Lugol’s (6.25 mg) per day for one week and precisely one

week later, I added a 2nd drop. On the 3rd week (and

always on the same day) I added another drop and by the time I got to week 3

(and 3 drops daily) I started to notice an improvement.

I am the type

of weird person that does things in a SPECIFIC order. I started on a Friday and

every Friday I added another drop and KEPT NOTES because I wanted to help

others. It took longer but I had NO DETOX that way, whether that’s

good or not, I don’t know.

So week 3

showed a small improvement in digestion and I noticed it. So that would be

about 18 mg.

So by week 8

and 50 mg. (8 drops) all my gut problems were gone and I was off Diabetic meds.

Because of No

Motility in my Gut, I will continue to have fermentation (food rotting because

it isn’t moving) and because of that I will HAVE to take Iodine forever.

I continued on and am now at 100 mg. daily (16 drops) and not sure if I will

increase that amount or not.

I also have

MOLD living in my gut and have to stay on a low carb diet.

I’ve

already had so many benefits, what else could there be to work on?

Bonnie,

Could you share how many mg/day you were taking and for how long,

before you had resolution of your gastrointestinal problems? I'm struggling

with yeast/bacterial overgrowth in my intestines, and am curious. Thanks so

much.

Hi Kim:

I am one of the ones that has gained

weight but I don’t believe it is directly from the Iodine but more from

the fact that my stomach now feels normal again after 9 years and I can eat

MORE FOOD than I could before. Because of my GI problems (stomach no

longer working) called Gastroparesis, I just put in 9 years where I got SO

NAUSEATED upon eating that I lost 70 pounds, so of course when the food is

being “accepted” and tolerated by the stomach, the natural thing is

to eat more. I had TOO MUCH BACTERIA built up, causing the nausea.

The Iodine THANKFULLY killed that all off and continues to do that for me

because I use the Lugol’s rather than the Iodoral.

Now I just have gained 20 pounds and

will have to WORK HARD to get rid of it.

And I will.

I know there has been a discussion on here

recently about weight gain, but it was a bit scattered and I can't remember

precisely how to go about dealing with it. Can someone give a concise

overview of why we are gaining weight on the iodine protocol and what are concrete

strategies to take to address it? I'm starting to feel a bit panicked

about it.

Thanks for being patient!

Thanks, Bonnie. It's really wise of you to keep close track and be so organized about the implementation of these things, and very helpful! I'm at about 37mg/day right now, and doing comparatively well the last few days with regards to gastro issues, but the real test will come once I'm in the second half of my monthly cycle, when all these symptoms typically worsen. I'll keep gradually upping the dose. I hope you can find a way to help the lack of gut motility!

thank you soooo much bonnie.

you are an INSPIRATION to many of us. woo hoo!!!!!

because of this board, the rosacea board and the thyroid board, i decided to start taking acidophilus and probiotics more than once a day. since i've been doing that -- it's been about a month now, i am pretty much totally OFF of prilosec [which i've been on since January of 2006]. for the 50+ years before starting prilosec i was in extreme gastro-intestinal distress, so i really needed to be on it every day for all that time.

i have also mentioned to my ND on numerous occasions, that since starting the iodoral i noticed a marked improvement in my gastro-intestinal problems, which started me on the journey to ever so gradually wean myself off of prilosec.
