Hi Fiona,

I replied to Jo, but I'm a personal trainer and fitness instructor, and have

been for almost twenty years. Also, I eat lightly throughout the day, but

certainly not restricted.

For clarity, I have only gained weight in my upper body (breasts and stomach

specifically). I have not gained any weight in my arms or legs -- I wear a size

4 in pants, but in two months, my shirt size and bra size increased to a point

where shirts and bras no longer fit.

Despite my profession, the swelling has yet to stop. That is my main concern.

Thanks for your reply.

Take care,

Lori

detox symptoms (only from 4 drops of 2% Lugol's per day for about two months)

and swelling/weight gain (all in my upper body and stomach, that's it). I gained

16 pounds in two months, and in the two months following NOT taking a drop of

iodine, I have yet to lose any of it and, premenstrually, I'm suffering the

worst swelling in my breasts and stomach I've ever had.

hours a day, usually seven days a week. To gain this much weight in just my

upper body (breasts and stomach) and not be able to lose it, is incredibly

distressing. I've been concentrating on just healing my liver by taking

magnesium, vit c, apple cider vinegar, and chlorophyll. I've removed nearly all

sugar from my diet and have been generally eating very lightly throughout the

day. Any attempts at a stronger liver detox have given me horrendous headaches

and major swelling, so a mild and slow liver healing is all I can handle at the

moment.

still from the iodine that I stopped taking two months ago? Is there anything I

can do to help this?

lugol's (and the companion nutrients), but much more slowly. I started iodine

for scalp hair loss and fibrocystic breasts, neither of which improved at all

while on the iodine and companion nutrients (probably because my detox pathways

are so clogged and too low of a dose of iodine).

On exercise for weight loss -

there is an approach to exercise which seems sensible as in nature animals seldom keep a constant pace.

Hunting animals in particular have several 'gears'.

The stalking is slow - but the catching is fast.

I am told that using this approach reduces the time component of exercise for weight loss and fitness significantly.

It is similar to the Paleo approach. http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t & rct=j & q=you%20tube%20paleo & source=web & cd=2 & ved=0CCwQtwIwAQ & url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DwGXep32_qiI & ei=nDZMT7jpCYS5iAfY3b1K & usg=AFQjCNFcUJ931FN6IOppTdu9KlQcb5Z1Uw

Not 100% certain but it is called something like variable intensity training.

Re: How long does iodine generally stay in the body?

Hi LoriI can't answer your iodine question but I just wanted to comment on your exercise. Most trainers would advice at least one day of rest between exercise routines. Most of the benefit actually appears on the days off. Sounds to me like you have inflammation from the stress you are putting your body under. If you are also reducing your food intake the situation is worse. Google 'cardio makes you fat' for details. There are some recent studies showing the downsides of exercise. I would have a week off to recover (eat plenty of nutritious food) and work with your trainer to design a more moderate programme. Even pro athletes have a day off!!Best wishesJo>> I haven't taken any iodine for nearly two months. My daughter is an Ironman competitor (2 mile swim, 120 mile cycle ride and a 26

mile run), and competed in the Hawaii World Championships in 2011. She exercises

to an amazing degree when she is tuning up for a competition. When she is

exercising she PUT ON WEIGHT. When she slackens off post race, she loses weight.
