Olga,From my understanding it isn't so much about too much iodine but too heavy of detox too fast. Have you tried the salt loading talked about in the Guide? in Alaska

Hi Group,

I have been doing Iodoral protocol for 4 weeks now, beginning from 12.5 mg/day (1 pill) and quickly increasing up to 5 pill (only for 2 days). I needed to drop my dose to 2 pills a day, where I am right now, because I started to feel symptoms like metallic taste in my mouth, minor tremor, some little tension. Today, when I looked in the mirror, I noticed that skin mostly around my nose turned to yellow color. Is it another sign that I am having too much iodine? Did anybody else experience this strange things? Should I drop my daily Iodoral dose to only 1 pill (12.5 mg)?

Please help me with some suggestions. I don't want to have a yellow face.

Thank you,

Olga

I am doing the salt loading protocol, but don't use more than 1/2 tea spoon sea

salt per day. May be I need more salt?

Salt loading did help me in the beginning of the Iodine treatment, when I

experienced a mild headache and a bit of runny nose. It lasted only few days,

that's why I decided to increase my Iodoral dose.

Should I continue to stay on 2 pills (25 mg) per day and not to go lower?

Thank you .

When strange things start happening on any protocol, I back off until I can figure out what is going on. But that's just how I do things..

Have never heard of this reaction. For detox reactions, just back your dose

down and do the salt loading. Adding in some liver support would be advisable

also.

Olga,

I am not sure from your reply if you are confusing daily salt use with The Salt Loading Protocol . The Salt Loading Protocol is different than daily salt use. Please read about the difference in the Guide to Supplementing with Iodine in our Files.

Kathleen, I have read about the Salt Loading Protocol. I have been doing it

additionally to my everyday kitchen salt use. What I meant is, in my Salt

Loading Protocol I use only 1/2 tsp sea salt once per day, no more. Should I do

the protocol, lets say, twice a day, which makes 1 tsp per day? May be three

times? I don't really have any other detox symptoms, only metallic taste plus

kind of yellow color of the skin around my nose, which doesn't hurt or itch or

anything. Just a different pigmentation.

Thank you for your reply.

Yhs_at_net: You are confusing the daily salt as a supporting nutrient and  the salt loading protocols. At this point, from your posts, you have only taken the daily supplement, you have not salt loaded yet. Here are the sections from the guide: 4. Supporting Nutrients for taking Iodine. These are required to support the body while supplementing with iodine:a. Vitamin C – 2,000 – 5,000 mgs / day – supports the symporters and assists asan antioxidant to detoxing.b. Selenium – 200 – 400 mcg / day – needed for detoxification and thyroidhormone creation.c. Unrefined salt (Celtic) – ½ tsp / day – supports adrenals, binds to bromide andassists in removal, supports symporters (sodium iodine symporters or NIS)d. Magnesium – 400 mgs / day – critical for over 300 enzyme reactions in thebody.e. Optional – ATP CoFactors -1 tablet 2x / day – when individuals continue to feelfatigued or have autoimmune thyroid disease this product can assist inincreasing ATP (energy) within the cells. Riboflavin and no-flush niacin. 10. What is the Salt Loading Protocol?Perform the salt loading protocol when you are experiencing detoxification symptomswith iodine supplementation. **Note that you should not need to do this for more than 3days. If you do then you need to reduce your dosing of iodine.1/2 tsp celtic (or other unrefined) salt in 1/2 cup of warm waterFollow the above with a glass of 12 oz filtered water.** Repeat every 30-45 minutes as needed until urination begins. The daily ½ tsp is general need. You need to follow the salt loading in addition to the daily salt to help with detox symptoms, which is described above to actually work on flushing out the toxins. Try it for a few days. If you need to do it 3 days, then back off your iodine and work on the detox pathways to help get the toxins moving out of your body. Thank you Donna for your comments.

I am going to print out these instructions to keep them handy and to pay more

attention to supporting nutrients .

I think my another mistake was that I started to increase my daily dose of

Iodoral too soon and too quickly.

From 1 pill/day (12.5mg) I went up to 5 pills in 3 weeks. Last two days I have

decreased Iodoral to only 1 pill/day and I already have seen that yellow part of

my face faded back to my normal color, and I don't have metallic taste anymore.

Now I am convinced I should have started with a low dose, slowly increasing it

to upward, careful monitoring my symptoms.

Thank you every one for your help. I think I am on the right track now.
