Guest guest
Does anyone have any good thoughts on this during pregnancy? My thyroid levels are pretty low, but in the " normal " range, my adrenals have been skyrocketed in cortisol for about two years. I am now 23 weeks along in the pregnancy. Before I was pregnant, I had been working on healing my adrenals for about 1 1/2 years. I was taking quite a few things that really helped out, but several of them I cannot have now. Schisandra berries (it's a non-no) Ashwagandha (no-no) Nettle seeds (too stimulating while my body is at rest creating a little one) Brewer's yeast (I am getting most of these nutrients through my prenatal vitamin now) Fermented Cod Liver Oil/Butter Oil Blend (still taking, but more) Milky Oats Tincture (stopped, but now wondering why) Vitamin C (in my prenatal, but seeing now it's definitely not enough) Progesterone Cream (took through week 12 of pregnancy, and tapered off) I am wanting to start in on Lugol's along with the supporting nutrients, but I know from studying/personal experience that I absolutely need to keep working on my adrenals at the same time as my thyroid. It would be very helpful to have any information about supporting herbs/nutrients, that are safe to take during pregnancy, in conjunction with the thyroid protocol. Any suggestions, personal experience, etc?
Guest guest
Hi, why would Ashwagandha be cointraindicated during pregnancy? Wondering if it has anything to do with blood pressure. Guest guest
Large doses are abortifacient, but a lot of midwives/herbalists are wary of it even in standard doses.... so, I am staying from it until after delivery. > > Hi, why would Ashwagandha be cointraindicated during pregnancy? > > Wondering if it has anything to do with blood pressure. > >
Guest guest
Hi Violet, interesting - I had recently started a supplement which contains Ashwagandha and got 'gastro'. Wonder if there is a connection? Parsley is another herb to be careful of during pregnancy.
