Guest guest
I had horrid detox symptoms when I made my own essiac tea years ago...I thought since it was natural, it couldn't hurt me so more was better and OH MAN! Was I down with the most horrid 'flu' (it wasn't flu season). I would tell her it's a good indication that their bodies are responding to it, it's basically like a mass exit. It means it's working so not to give up before reaping the rewards of it. For them to definitely drink lots of water, CUT BACK on the KT but to NOT stop drinking it, they want to expell those toxins and such in their bodies, not keep them in. I'd also avoid any processed foods at this time and eat nutrient rich foods...salads, raw or cooked veggies, soups with veggies if they aren't up to eating...juicing if they can. I don't know if anyone else would but I would either drink water or liquids with electrolytes (not gatorade...it has too much sugar and dyes) or add electrolytes to their water. When they feel better, perhaps stay with a low dosage of KT for a few days / weeks, depending on their own bodies then increase in very small doses...others here would be able to advise on how much. I am familiar with detoxing with natural foods and drinks...it works! And I've never smoked, never drank much (maybe 1/4 wine glass every few months), have never done drugs...mine detox results were all from RX medications, OTC meds and poor choices in foods that I eat. Maybe if they are still freaking out, even find out a really small dosage suggestion...maybe even dilute it w/ water for them at first. > > Ok, I myself am very familiar with detox and Kombucha, I have > introduced it to many and I am always at a loss for the right words to > pass on...if a friend said the following............. Guest guest
Hi Connie and EveryOne, A very important principle in detoxification is that the elimination be faster then the release of toxins into your blood stream. So...my advice given the conditions you mention below would be to cut back on the amount of Kombucha tea until the detox symptoms stop then stay at that level awhile and gradually increase the amount over time. At the same time, I would advise drinking plenty of plain water....that help the process of elimination. It takes time to build up toxins in our bodies and it is best to take the time needed to eliminate them without putting undo strain on the body by going too fast....symptoms are signs you should slow down a bit. Toxins released that cannot be eliminated get recycled so there is no benefit in going too fast..... Guest guest
The best advice is what your wisdom, and the wisdom of others has said: cut back on KT and drink more water. Case in point: After I brewed my first batch, I began drinking about 2 oz the first day and it was sooo yummy. Within a week I was up to 4 oz - it was sooo yummy! Within in two weeks I was drinking 8 oz - it was soooo yummy! Within 2 1/2 weeks, I " came down with " the most horrific dizziness - almost fell on the floor because I couldn't tell which end was up or down! Immediately I cut back my KT to about 4 oz and increased my water. Usually I drink about 5 cups (8 oz each) of water daily, but once I'd added the KT it was more difficult for me to " want " to drink more water because the KT is sooo yummy it was more appealing to drink it than water. Well, here I am about a month or so later, and I again have increased my KT consumption, allbeit MUCH more slowly. I'm up to 8 oz daily along with 5 cups (8 oz each) of water daily. So I thought it'd be ok to increase my KT again. Alas, I went too fast - from 8 oz to 16 oz in just one day, and maintaining water at about 5 cups (actually, it probably dropped to 4 cups). I'd been drinking 2 cups of KT and 4 - 5 cups of water for about three days, when guess what? Overnight I " came down with the flu " - at the beginning of spring - not flu season, that's for sure!! OOOPS, did it again! The " flu-like symptoms " included: sinus headache, draining sinuses, general achyness, juicy cough, almost overwhelming fatigue, and grouchiness because I felt so yucky. So maybe this time I've learned. Today I'll keep KT to 8 oz (or less if I have the willpower, but remember it's soooo yummy) and increase my water back to 6 cups. I guess this time I'll try increasing KT by 1 oz at a time and make sure that I maintain 6 cups (8 oz each) of water daily, and if I don't drink enough water, well I guess I'll just have skip " dessert " (my KT that is:-) Peace and blessings, Fran Posted by: " texastykes " callen@... texastykes Fri Mar 16, 2007 8:27 am (PST) I had horrid detox symptoms when I made my own essiac tea years ago...I thought since it was natural, it couldn't hurt me so more was better and OH MAN! Guest guest
Hello Fran and all, Here is what I did back when the detox symptoms got me. I cut back a little the amount of KT I was drinking AND added my measured amount of KT to my glass of water. That way I got to drink KT flavored water. The old " kill two birds with one stone " approach. Happy Brewing y-all, Rae in Idaho ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Food fight? Guest guest
How old are your older children Amy? If you choose homoeopathy as your main modality, the remedies used are very individualised, so the things we used for our children will be different from what you will need. Do they have health problems as a result of vaccination? If so, then using a gluten and casein free diet can be very helpful in effecting positive changes. Also the usual suspects should be omitted - MSG, aspartame, pesticide laden food, white sugar; in fact just about any manufactured " food " . A great way to cleanse is to do fruit and veg juice fasts. If you search for the Bragg's books on fasting, they will be very helpful, and Jim has heaps of info and is very encouraging. We still indulge - I adore very dark organic chocolate as an occasional treat, in fact I would love to indulge a lot more often! I have a couple of alcoholic drinks per annum. One son had real trouble with raw juice fasting so we started doing just one day a week for him. Then 2 days and so on. He craved junk after carbo-loading for sport so we managed to get him to raw fast for 6 days and actually allowed junk on the last day. He did that perhaps three times then couldn't stand the ill feeling after stuffing himself full of pizza, bakery products, soda drinks, chocolate etc. Some of the things we have used are proteolytic enzymes, alpha lipoic acid (aka thioctic acid), glutathione, and probiotics and slippery elm food to heal the gut. This was a long time ago, so you will need to research, as these may not be what people use nowadays. We had allergies, intolerances, involvement of the vagus nerve affecting brain/bowel. There was injury to the brain stem affecting hearing, optic nerve involved and inco-ordination known by various names depending on the areas affected/afflicted. Brain injury is brain injury but you will NEVER hear THAT phrase. Well, there's something to go on with until someone with more up to date info can help you. Vaccinations Date: Sunday, May 31, 2009, 7:24 PM My 3rd child had 1 vax, and I stopped, he is 10 months old today, my healthiest and smartest one, already repeating words...that is all the proof I need! Anyway, is there anyway to " detox " my older 2 kids (whom I had no idea back then about the dangers of vaccines)from their childhood vaccines? A homeopahic remedy? Thanks! Guest guest
Background: Hashimotos diagnosis in August. Taking companion nutrients was able to increase my Iodine to 75mg a day been taking this amount for 4 months. Have had diarrhea/constipation off and on since Hashi diagnosis. Was on Naturethroid.. Went off on 2/4/2012 due to HYPER symptoms. Doc had me go off of the naturethroid for 2 days then take a smaller dose the next day. I went immediatley hype again... Heart racing, Very hyper.. could not go to sleep, tons of energy. This week I had some weird stomach pains..that moved around my stomach/intestines. Very uncomfortable pains. Not like stomach cramping when you get sick. I recently read article about selenium. Was taking 2 200 mg pills per day.. Also found that my Multivitamin had it in it as well, that I was taking 2-3 times daily. I have been doing this since August. Due to the stomach issues.. I stopped all vitamins this weekend. Did not take any Sat thru Monday. Took my vitamins again this am... No selenium except for in my multi vitamin, iodine took 25 mg, vitamin c 2000, celtic salt 1/4 tsp in capsules, Vitamin b1/b6, b2 and b3 and chromium. I take 2 magnesium 635 mg at night which helps me sleep. Within 1 1/2 hours after taking the vitamins today, I had a severe dizzy spell.. Like vertigo. I had been bent over for a few minutes and when I stood back up.. got severely dizzy, along with depth perception being off. Could not move my head or would get severe dizzy and nauseated. I left work and slept for 3 hours, woke up better but still feel " off " . Also, I have had at times a dizzyness when laying flat on my back, especially with turning my head to one side. This has been going on for a few months. Is the dizziness a part of detox symptoms? Anyone else have stomach pains as I described? Anyone ever have issues with too much selenium?
