Why are you taking 200mg? Generally, that level is suggested for those with

cancer, but usually one doesn't need to stay that high for other illnesses, nor

for

maintenance.

Hi ,

Well I did have thyroid cancer (half my thyroid removed in 2008 but no

radiation). I also had suspected ovarian cysts and I believe some in my breasts,

although they have become less painful during PMS time since the high Iodoral

dosage.

I just never had side effects so kept increasing the dosage and figured my body

needed it... I thought reducing my thyroid meds was a good sign that it was

working? Maybe I have been doing this wrong!!

What is the recommended maintenance dosage then?

Do you think I am overdosing since I had those wonky lab results?

Thanks for the additional information. If you're still taking thyroid dose,

which

you are, the iodine isn't causing you problems, but it is making you need less

thyroid meds, which is great. But I think lowering to 150mg is fine. You're

lucky

your doc is so supportive of iodine.

So I'm saying, you're not overdosing, since you're still taking thyroid meds,

you're getting well and needing less. But I think your doc is correct to want

to

lower the dosage in order stay on top of the return to thyroid health that you

are

obviously enjoying.

I think it's cause for joy as far as the thyroid goes. I can't speak to the

rest of

your lab results, but it sounds to me like your ND is on top of it.
