Guest guest
Kathy I have such thorough drs. because I have chosen them with great care. I now research a new dr. before I go to him or her. I switched my primary care dr. last year because he didn't do the right thing for me. I also switched my stomach dr for the same reason. I've learned that if the dr doesn't have my best interests at heart, it's time to move on and change drs. My PM dr is one in a million and changed my life in more ways than one. This is one of the lessons that she taught me. I must speak up. The primary took the blood, not fasting, so I knew the number couldn't be right. The heart dr. was going to repeat the number anyway so I wasn't going on any meds until I got a fasting number. I was assertive enough to know this and told this to the nurse in the primary drs. office. We have to be assertive. If you thing something isn't right, you have to go with your gut instinct, and speak up. If I can't talk to and ask questions of my drs. then that's not the dr for me. I went to a dr. for my thyroid. She spent very litle time with me and make it very clear that she didn't like the fact that I asked questions. I changed drs and I now am going to someone else. I don't want a dr that is going to rush me in and out.. Great drs are out there, you just have to find them. I am glad that you are feeling better. Hope you stay that way. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Love to you too Hope everyone is well Never give up hope Sue C From: KGAVI@... <KGAVI@...> Subject: Re: Thank you Stimulator Date: Friday, August 8, 2008, 10:03 PM HEY SUE!!! THAT IS GREAT THAT YOU HAVE SUCH THOROUGH DOCTORS!!! MOST FOLKS JUST ASSUME THAT IF WE HAVE ELEVATED CHOLESTEROL OR TRIGLYSTERIDES, IT HAS TO BE OUR DIET....THIS IS NOT ALWAYS THE CASE. WHEN I USED TO TEACH VENIPUNCTURE AND HOW TO SPIN DOWN THE TUBES OF BLOOD IN THE LAB PRIOR TO SENDING THEM OUT TO BE TESTED....I MADE SUCH A FUSS OVER MAKING SURE THAT THE KIDS FOLLOWED THE STEPS TO THE " T " ..IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THE TUBES TO BE DRAWN IN THE PROPER ORDER...BELEIVE IT OR NOT, IT CAN AFFECT THE RESULTS OF TESTS, IF YOU SHAKE THE TUBE AFTER THE BLOOD IS DRAWN INTO IT, YOU CAN RUPTURE THE BLOOD CELLS WHICH WILL ALTER THE RESULTS OF THE TESTS, ONLY GENTLE INVERSION IS REQUIRED, IF YOU DON'T WAIT THE 15 MINTUES PRIOR TO SPINNING THE BLOOD DOWN, IT WILL ALTER THE AFECTS, .IF YOU WAIT TOO LONG AND DON'T CENTRIFUGE (SPIN) DOWN THE BLOOD TO SEPERATE THE SERUM (THE PART THAT IS TESTED) IT CAN CERTAINLY AFFECT THE RESULTS.. IF YOU LEAVE THE TOURNIQUET ON TOO LONG...ONCE AGAIN YOU CAN ALTER THE TESTS....SO YOU SEE THERE ARE ALOT OF REASONS THAT THE TESTS COULD BE HIGH AND NOT TRUE!!! IF THE PERSON ATE AND THE DR'S OFFICE DIDN'T TELL THEM TO FAST...FOR THIS TEST IS ANOTHER BIGGIE. I AM SO GLAD THAT YOUR DR DID A RE-DRAW TO MAKE SURE!!! ALSO, ANOTHER REAL PROBLEM IS FAMILY HISTORY....I HAVE SEEN SO MANY PATIENTS WHO REALLY, TRULY FOLLOW A WELL-BALANCED, LOW CARB DIET....AND ARE NICE AND ACTIVE AND THIN....BUT HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, HIGH CHOLESTEROL AND HIGH TRIGLYCERIDES. ....SADLY, NOTHING BUT MEDS CAN HELP THEM. SO THRILLED ABOUT YOUR OTHER DR TOO, SUE...YOU DON'T WANT TO TAKE ANY MEDS THAT YOU DON'T NEED TO!! I HAVE THYROID DISEASE ALSO. MY DOC CHECKED X3 BLOOKD TESTS PRIOR TO MEDS....WHICH WAS A REAL FREAKING NIGHTMARE DUE TO MY VEINS...NO EXAGERATION. ..AT LEAST 9-12 STICKS PER TEST SINCE MY VEINS ARE SO POOR. NOW...BACK TO YOU...SUE... SURE, I AM THRILLED THAT YOU ARE ONE OF OUR NEW MODERATORS!! ! WHEN MIKE AND I TALKED ABOUT IT, I WAS JUST THRILLED!! THANKS FOR YOU WELL WISHES....THE PAIN AND SPASMS GOT TO BE TOO MUCH....KEPT ON PASSING OUT FROM PAIN. BETTER NOW...KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED! THANKS FOR LETTING US ALL KNOW ABOUT YOUR NEW ADDRESS..PLEASE EVERYONE FOLLOW SUE'S GREAT COMMUNICATION SKILLS...IF YOU CHANGE YOUR ADDRESS, PLEASE LET US KNOW. LOTS OF LOVE TO YOU , SUE. Guest guest
I remember when my daughter was going thru these " outbursts " at school. She didn't want to go to school either. I think this is the " normal " part - the only time in her life she was aware of others looking at her differently. She was aware of not being like her peers. It is so VERY hard to watch your child suffer. And it is so VERY wrong for teachers and staff to think you can control it! Hang in there - it does get better! And you are NOT crazy - just a loving mom! Thank You Dear Listmates: Thank you for your responses to my question about Risperdal. Like Dana said, it is hard enough dealing with having a child with special needs without the tough issues, like in my daughter's case, obsessive compulsive behavior, SIBs and aggression. At times I feel very alone too. I hate that the people at my daughter's school are thinking badly of her because of these recent behavior issues. They act like I should be able to snap my fingers and make it go away. God knows I would if I could. For some reason she doesn't want to go to school, and she always liked school before this school year. I plan to go observe next week. I just hope she will want to go back on Monday. I think that no one really knows unless they are in a similar situation what it is like. I so appreciate this list. Jill

Guest guest
Mark, I'm so glad to hear that you're still doing so well! Like you, I'm a long-time balloon dilation success story (last dilation was 1998 for me). I think there are more of us out there, but they just stop participating in this forum when they no longer need our help. While it doesn't work for everyone (nothing is guaranteed for any procedure to date), and it may require more than one procedure, balloon dilation CAN work long-term. It's relatively inexpensive (esp. compared to the surgical alternatives) and requires only one day off from work/normal daily activities. I feel so blessed for having a long term relief after being diagnosed for having " A " last 2004. Though I am not so active as a member of this group, I really want to thank you all guyz for your continuous support, sharing messages and advices that really touch our hearts and makes us feel better each and everyday. > > I always pray for the good of everyone of us. Guest guest
HI Debbi, I think anybody of us wants to live a normal life, but sometimes achieving this is not easy. Sometimes surgeries are not successful as was my case, but I am afraid to have a dilation out of fear of perforation of the e beside I had a dilation before surgery and it was not successful, so I believe everybody differs and you are the lucky ones, hope you always stay lucky. Guest guest
I just wanted to say Thank You to the administrators of this group and to everyone who chimes in. I started iodine supplementation over a week ago and I can't believe how great I feel. I was feeling like " death warmed over " and on just one 12.5 mg pill of Iodoral daily I have a bounce back to my step! If I weren't nursing my baby I'd take more iodine, but am pleased already with this energy increase. I'm now able to get back to exercising (T-Tapping) which I am sure will only help my energy levels at all. I'm sure I'll be around this group for quite awhile, soaking up all the knowledge I can! It has been a whole year since my VATS Heller Myotomy. I am doing wonderful! I run about 15 miles a week and mountain bike about 15 miles a week. I am back to my original weight. I can eat.
