Guest guest
As far as I have tried... you could put lugol's solution on it a few times a day but it will stain and eventually sting a little bit. It then becomes a scab, which falls off and you repeat until you have the results you like. The process takes weeks. You could alternatively use SSKI saturated solution of potassium iodide, which works similarly but is clear and leaves no stain, except potassium salts. Some suggest scratching the scar before you start to allow your skin to become permeable and soak in. You will know it is working when you feel it itch. The magic is in the iodine, not the mixture. Although there are some preparations that have boric acid probably to help sketch the skin (like scratching) and let the iodine in. > > Hello: Heard about a mixture or Iodine and Oil for flattening scars. > I am intereted in the ingredients, how to mix and apply this formula. Guest guest
Very long time since I posted anything here, but this rang a bell. There is a Dr. Derry (also an " Iodine doc, " who focused primarily on breast issues), who experimented on himself using iodine for wound and scar healing, posted photos of the progression of the healing. It had been a couple of years since I looked at that, but did save a link to a pdf document with the photos. It was very interesting that the hairs on his body were bending and flexing, appearing to be delivering the iodine to particular areas of the wound. www(dot)thyroidscience(dot)com/cases/Derry(dot)Iodine(dot)Regen.6.7.08(dot)pdf Also try to locate the Iodine group post #4523 for several other entries on wound healing, from Jan 2011. I hope I removed enough period/dot symbols for the address to post, and you'll know to replace the (dot) word with the appropriate symbol. A picture is worth a thousand words, and hope it gives you confidence to try it. I used Iosol iodine on a couple of long, deep gouges on my arms, and they were reduced by about 2/3 in just a few days before cold weather and long sleeves brought a halt to my " project. " Iosol has glycerin in it, thus takes a long time to dry on skin, but I wasn't affected by the skin irritation issue. I could see the color gradually disappear into the wounds, and it never stung. When I first started using iodine, Iosol was the strongest product available at my health food store, and that's what I started with before getting Lugol'selsewhere. Topical use seemed a logical way to use up the remainder.
