Guest guest
I went to my dentist today and he told me I have a spot behind my front teeth that is an abnormal cell growth. He said it is probably nothing, but if it doesn't go away or get considerably smaller in two weeks, he says he need to remove it and have it biopsied. He wants me to rinse with chorhexidine gluconate. Can I just put iodine topically on it? I know iodine is supposed to help with skin cancer, but would it help with this? I know " the answer " is " Of course. Iodine helps heal everything, " but does anyone really KNOW if it will help this? I'm already taking Lugol's orally and have been for about 6 months now, but it probably never touches the area behind my front teeth as I just kind of slug it down as fast as possible so as not to taste it. Is it possible for iodine to CAUSE a spot like this in my mouth? My friend who is taking Lugol's also says she thinks it is causing a sore in her mouth. I have never smoked or drank in my life and can't imagine why I would be at risk for oral cancer. I know it's probably nothing, but it's hard not to be a bit alarmed.
