Guest guest
Hi everyone, I had my thyroid removed in 2007 and it’s been a pretty tough road since then. After my surgery my doctor put me on 50mcg of levothyroxide (that probably isn’t spelled correctly) In 2 years I gained 100lbs and my once thick, long natural hair turned into a thinning, dried out brittle mess. In 2010 I relocated back to my home state and I started seeing a new doctor who put me on 4 grains of Naturethroid. My energy levels improved but the weight is still not coming off even after I started a gluten free diet…My hair is growing back but I think that’s due to the biotin and MSM supplements I started taking. *SIGH* Okay so now to my question…Two weeks ago I started taking 5 drops of 2.5% lugols every morning and last week I upped my dosage to 20 drops and followed the suggestion on the website here to add Selenium. I’m not sure what I should expect from taking Iodine or if I should expect anything seeing as though I don’t have a thyroid gland. Is there anyone else around here who takes Iodine after having their thyroid removed? If so, what improvements have you seen? Oh yeah I should also add I’ve been using Celtic sea salt on my food since last summer but I found I can’t eat it straight out of the bag, it gives me horrible heartburn. I’m open to suggestions from anyone…Thanks in advance Nikki
