Guest guest Posted January 3, 2012 Report Share Posted January 3, 2012 My husband has managed to get some blood test results as follows free T4 16.7 TSH 0.14 free T3 5.3 note he is no 150 thyroxine transferrin 2.73 Vit D3 56 Vit D2 <5 magnesium 0.95 folate 3.4 ferritin 143 iron 15 B12 119 zinc 16.9 haemoglobin 147 intrinsic factor was negative and all other usual blood tests are normal. I can see that B12 and vitamin D is low so maybe by having supplements will help with symptoms The symptoms experienced for many years and which relief is sought are bad hair loss(alopecia), and ,itchy very dry skin and weight gain.and temperature control any advice welcome . thanks karen Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We can then take it from there. He should take 5mgs Folic Acid > ferritin 143 (23.9-336) - that's fine, but would be better if it was a little higher. Needs feeding up on foods rich in iron. > iron 15 (8-32.6) - see comment above > B12 119 less than 130 = deficient - B12 reference range is usually about 175 to 800 - this result is VERY low, so low I would have thought a doctor would have recommended a course of iron injections > zinc 16.9 (13.8-22.9) - too low, needs 15mgs zinc daily to build up the level.
