My husband has managed to get some blood test results as follows

free T4 16.7

TSH 0.14

free T3 5.3

note he is no 150 thyroxine

transferrin 2.73

Vit D3 56

Vit D2 <5

magnesium 0.95

folate 3.4

ferritin 143

iron 15

B12 119

zinc 16.9

haemoglobin 147

intrinsic factor was negative

and all other usual blood tests are normal.

I can see that B12 and vitamin D is low so maybe by having supplements will help

with symptoms

The symptoms experienced for many years and which relief is sought are bad hair

loss(alopecia), and ,itchy very dry skin and weight gain.and temperature control

any advice welcome .

thanks karen

, before we can move forward, can you get the reference

range for each of the tests done so we can see whether he is at the bottom, the

middle or the top of the range, or even outside of the reference range. We can

then take it from there.

> folate 3.4 (3-17) - Ouch, that's low.

He should take 5mgs Folic Acid

> ferritin 143 (23.9-336) - that's fine, but

would be better if it was a little higher. Needs feeding up on foods rich in

iron.

> iron 15 (8-32.6) - see comment above

> B12 119 less than 130 = deficient - B12

reference range is usually about 175 to 800 - this result is VERY low, so low I

would have thought a doctor would have recommended a course of iron injections

> zinc 16.9 (13.8-22.9) - too low, needs

15mgs zinc daily to build up the level.
