Hi Louise

Mainly, your cortisol levels are fine, but a bit too high at

night. Do you have trouble going to sleep. It certainly wouldn't harm you to

try a course of Nutri Adrenal Extra (these are not as potent as Isocort) and

would probably help your adrenals to get the nourishment they need.

Your B12 is far too low - it should be near to the top of the

reference range. Talk to the endocrinologist about this, especially as you have

members of your family who have suffered with pernicious anaemia plus thyroid

antibodies. You need to start taking some form of B12, either injections or

1000mcgs B12 sublingual (twice daily to start with) and when your B12 level

starts to rise satisfactorily, drop back to 1000mcgs daily. You may need to

stay on a maintenance dose.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I sometimes have trouble sleeping. I work night shifts

most weeks at the moment (in a fairly stressful job) which I am aware is prob

not helping my cause! As most people, I need to pay the bills!

I will get on and order some B12, I already take multi vits/minerals, vit E,

Omega 3, Vit C 1000mgs. I think I will try some adrenal support then. Do you

think I should start on Armour at the same time or keep a few weeks gap between

starting the adrenal support? I am aware that I should treat the adrenals first.

Have you heard of " Seriphos " Phosphorylated Serine (Phosphoserine) Adaptogen and

Adrenal support?. Red Apple clinic sent me a flyer with my saliva results.......

Many thanks for your reply

If your adrenals need supporting, then you should support these

first before starting any form of thyroid hormone replacement. This is

essential. You might want to give 3mgs Melatonin a try if you are still

suffering with sleepless nights. This is a natural hormone that you take about

half an hour before going to bed, but make sure you sleep in a fully darkened

room - i.e. blackout curtains if possible. I use Melatonin myself, particularly

after a stressful day.

We usually recommend boosting your adrenals with Nutri Adrenal

Extra that you can buy direct form Nutri, and you get 33% discount by being a

member of Thyroid Patient Advocacy. Go to the FILES SECTION of this forum (accessible

from the Home Page Menu) and click on DISCOUNTS ON TESTS AND SUPPLEMENTS - on

the page that opens, scroll down the document entitled 'Nutri Ltd.,' and

following the ordering instructions given there, quoting the TPA reference

code.
